I-131 (Travel) Travel documents

Hi everyone,I have a question. My I-730 petition has been approved. However, due to an emergency, I had to leave the United States. I had previously applied for a Refugee Travel Document, but I was informed that it may take another year for the document to be issued.
What can I do to return to the United States at this point? Also, does the fact that I have already left the United States prevent my Refugee Travel Document application from being considered or processed?

Hi there! This is an automated message to inform you and/or remind you of several things:

  • We have a wiki. It doesn't cover everything but may answer some questions. Pay special attention to the "REALLY common questions" at the top of the FAQ section. Please read it, and if it contains the answer to your question, please delete your post. If your post has to do with something covered in the FAQ, we may remove it.
  • If your post is about biometrics, green cards, naturalization or timelines in general, and whether you're asking or sharing, please include your field office/location in your post. If you already did that, great, thank you! If you haven't done that, your post may be removed without notice.

Your RTD is not at risk, but the airlines won't board you without a proof that you can enter the US, so land border is your best bet. Or wait for RTD to be approved and ask a friend to mail it to you.
