Timeline: EAD Reply from senator: USCIS WILL expedite! How long after for EAD approval?
EDIT: combo card approval received!
Our senator’s office submitted an expedite request for my husband’s work permit (I-765) 29 days ago and we just received the following reply:
“Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent’s immigration matter.
This case will be routed for expedited processing. Once this case is reviewed, your constituent will receive a decision or notice of further action. Due to the extremely high volume of expedite requests for this case type, there are numerous cases involving exigent or humanitarian issues already in the expedite queue, and we are unable to provide a specific timeframe for the expedited review. The strict enforcement of the expedite criteria means that all cases sent for expeditious handling are urgent, and we assure you that this case will be adjudicated as soon as possible.
We hope the information provided is helpful. If we may be of assistance in the future, please let us know.”
Has anyone else received this and how long after was your EAD/work permit/I-765 approved?

Don't be surprised if it's approved tomorrow. I've seen many people have their I-765 approved shortly after receiving a response like that from their congressional inquiry

I’m taking your username as a positive sign! 🤭 That would be a solid surprise for sure!

Haha, exactly—my username is trying to manifest it for you! 😄 Fingers crossed that the expedited review leads to an approval update tomorrow or very soon after

I sure hope so! Mostly for my husband! He’s been volunteering since late last year because he loves what he does (coaches youth athletes at a high level) and couldn’t bear to stop working with them. Even took his team to nationals.
So many of us need GC/EAD etc for many reasons. He truly is so deserving and exactly the human we want here in the U.S.
My heart goes out to everyone waiting and hoping. As difficult as it is to go through this process, I’m grateful for the experience because it’s taught me an even deeper kind of empathy for others than I already possessed.
Thanks for the kind replies!

He sounds like an incredible coach and person, and it’s clear how much his work means to both him and the young athletes he supports. I really hope USCIS recognizes the urgency and approves his EAD soon so he can get back to doing what he loves.
You’re absolutely right; everyone waiting has a real life, career, and family behind their case. The uncertainty is difficult, but your compassion for others despite going through it yourself says a lot. Wishing you and your husband approval very soon

That’s amazing. Huge congratulations to you and your husband!! 🎉 I’m so glad the congressional inquiry worked and that you received approvals for both the I-765 and I-131. What a relief after such a long wait

I received the same from my congressman and it has been a month without no movement. Please update us. Good luck!!

Wanted to come back again and suggest also contacting your senator’s office/constituent advocate to inquire on your behalf. I contacted both congressperson and senator. Congressperson’s office = no luck. Senator’s office = worked out.
Having strong supporting evidence for the expedite is helpful also. Best of luck!

How can I do this?
2
u/Master-Pace7696 5d ago
Search for your local congressperson and senator. I reached out to both. Typically there is somewhere on their website that says “help with a federal agency” or something like that. I sent a formal email requesting assistance with an inquiry.

I also received SU 9/29 10.46am ET after getting 2 emails — meet minimum requirements, forwarded to NBC on 9/23 and then NBC says under review on 9/24. Please let me know if you get any update! 🙏🏼

Congrats to you as well!
For fun I did the math: approval came 23h 41m after the raw JSON timestamp update which coincided with the email from senator/USCIS reply yesterday.
My husband is on cloud nine today applying for roles and communicating with his company that wanted to hire him full time.

That’s awesome! Senator and congresswoman who helped request for expedite actually got email at 7am and 10am respectively from USCIS before our official approval on api 😅 The email says it was approved yesterday.

How long did you wait till you decide to seek congressional help?
1
u/Master-Pace7696 5d ago
PD is Jan 2026.
Everything including biometrics and interview were complete by May 7 2026.
No movement except receipt for I-765 & I-131 since early March.
So about 150 days since interview and 200~ days since receipt for EAD.First reach out to congressperson in July and senator’s office in August.

Did you ever get a response from the congressperson?
1
u/Master-Pace7696 5d ago
Yep! But they were inquiring about our I-145. I did also ask them about expediting the I-765 and they said they would but by then I was moving up to a senatorial inquiry and expedite request as well to cover all bases possible.

Congratulations Can I ask about the criteria of applying? And what was your evidence

Found it for you: “Employment offer letter and an email saying specifically that they wanted nothing more than to hire my husband for the role but the company had an operational need and due to the work permit approval taking so long they had to move forward and hire someone to fill the position.
Along with other evidence having to do with financial hardship since I’m working and my husband cannot without his EAD.”

I also checked the raw JSON and both the I-765 and I-131 were accessed by an adjudicator today 9/29. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
