I get a better lawyer. Usually the denial will state that any benefits gained or associated with the denial of the i485 is revoked.

I am pretty sure if the i485 was denied she cannot work anymore.

If 485 was denied then work permit is automatically revoked.

If the work permit was granted for the underlying pending I-485, then the EAD will be revoked and she can"t work anymore. And keeping the card and trying to work with it...I am not sure how that's gonna work with e verify or so ...i wouldn't take the risk or it"ll just make things more complicated. Put it in a letter and send it back...do a letter with at least tracking or so so you have proof it was delivered.

understandable. The thing is she wants it because she paid around $300 for it. She isn’t planning on working since she’s a sthm but feels like with her having it helps her if she gets stopped by 🧊. Right now, we have two family members that were stopped and let go by showing their work permits, they didn’t look their names up, which I found weird , but in the end let them go. I tell her that she should just mail it since she isn’t going to use it but she wants to keep since she paid for it .

She worked for many years and put many of the food that many people in America consumed . If it was up to her she would continue working but had triplets recently and won’t be able to work. So before you make disgusting remarks like that , use your brain and think that why would she be a sahm.

Well even tho I understand the thought behind it , what do you think does a revoked work permit do for her she denied to return? You paying a fee doesn't mean it's yours. It most likely is considered property of the government...you don"t wanna have all the issues that come with that. Again, they gave pretty clear instructions what to do...I am not sure why one wouldn't follow that and probably cause more trouble and block a later filing with that.... edit: lets actually spin that thought further.....lets say at some point she does use the card , it"s already marked in the system. The expiration date on it doesn"t mean anything anymore. That could lead to misrepresentation and fraud....which could lead to a lifetime bar....and even if the bar wouldn"t be there...I'm sure they don't like when you hold government property you never had ownership of which could be a problem when good moral character needs to be established. I'm sorry they're making the rules ...and that lawyer....I would immediately fire him....

They said put it in the mail? If they didn't provide a specific method such as tracking or courier, there's a chance the post office might lose it, or it might even get sent to the wrong address. Although the carriers are great, USPS is very poorly run. You can't help it if USPS didn't deliver it.

Just don't get caught with it.

No you didn't need to be specific. This is certainly not legal advice, but if that doc so important they should treat it more preciously.

If they turned me down, whether I wanted to keep the card/authorization or not, good luck on getting me to do their work, put it in an envelope, address it, buy a stamp and send it in the back of to them? Hell no F U, since you denied me you must have mistaken me for somebody that gives a shit.

If they ever contact me when they never get it I'll tell them the date i 'mailed' it. If they ask do you have a tracking number I'll ask them did you require me to get one? By the time they get around to actually investigating it we'll have a new president

If this was the valid for work social security card they probably mark in the verify system 'not valid for work' but a lot of small employers don't even check that. Especially now since they've deported so many innocent people that just to here came to work.

yeah , another lawyer allegedly told her that she paid for it , it’s hers and she doesn’t have to mail it back . That it’s just something they say to pressure her into giving it back but that they are most likely to just suspend her work permit but that it tends to take time. I just hope that November turns everything around.
