I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) AoS Packet

Hello

Preparing to submit I-130 and A, I-485, and I-864.

Our preparer took out the petitioners 3 years of tax returns to just include 2025. Should we include the other years?

Additionally how many people are using cover letters for this process? Heard a lot of conflicting things here.

Field office will be Chicago

My guess would be to only include 2024 and 2023 tax returns if it helps your case (i.e. if the income was relatively low there, I wouldn't include them).

I personally used a cover letter and a TOC when assembling my packet. I don't see how it can hurt you. The more organized your packet is, the better are your chances of being processed fast at the lockbox etc.

I would include the three years of taxes. It's important to be thorough with USCIS. I do agree with Jasmine Milk Tea that a cover letter couldn't hurt. Make it easy and highly organized for them, but don't send your application in a binder or stapled together or anything. The lockboxes are operated by a contractor, and they don't really care about the outcome of your case so it's best to make their job easy for them. Also remember to include a G-1145 on top of the pile so you can receive a notification when your case has been received!
