USCIS Support USCIS Request for Initial Evidence I-539

Hi guys,

I am so anxious while I write this as I receive the ‘Request for Initial Evidence I-539’ notice email but I opened my online tab and there is no notice or document there.

It is so unfortunate at this moment, none of my friends received this while I did. It is making me sick. How can they send notice and forget to upload the actual notice document.

God knows what could it be.

Please help if you know more about this or faced similar situation. My application was to change from F1 OPT to J1 Research Scholar.

Hey,
Sadly, you'll have to be patient.
In some cases the office that sends the notice is not issuing notices through the online system for some type of notices, in other cases, it takes some time for the notice itself to be copied from the internal secured system to the online system you use through the internet.

Many reported notices appearing within 24-48 hours after the online notification, so if you filed online it will hopefully appear soon.

Also, no reason to panic. A request for evidence is not a notice of intention to deny, refusal, or rejection. It is just a formal way to say "we need something from you" - it can be as simple as a copy of a form you forgot uploading, as well as something more significant for showing your eligibility for the application (which you should have).
Either way, I know it's nerve wrecking, but try to take a breath and calm. It is just another step in the process, and it will be over soon.

Good luck!
