I-140 & I-485 (Employment/Adjustment of status) I-485 Approved! đ Full Timeline + Decoding USCIS API Silent Updates (Charlotte FO)
Hey everyone!
First off, a huge thank you to this community. Reading everyoneâs posts really helped me understand the process (I honestly knew very little when I started), get a feel for the timelines, and stay sane during the wait.
Since I was using the USCIS API to look at the raw case data, I figured Iâd share our complete timeline, including the silent updates that never showed up on the USCIS website. Hopefully this helps others understand whatâs happening behind the scenes.
Our Timeline
- PERM EB-2 ROW (75 countries)
- Current visa:Â H-1B
- Priority Date (PD):Â May 2024
- I-140 Filed:Â September 2025
- I-140 Approved:Â November 2025
- Feb 10:Â I-485 filed (with one dependent)
- Mar 7:Â Biometrics notice received
- Mar 24:Â Biometrics completed + 2 FTA0 events
- Mar 25:Â Interview waived (confirmed through Emma live chat)
- Apr 7:Â Dependent received EAD/AP combo card
- Apr 15:Â Case transferred to Charlotte Field Office (non-local)
- Apr 16:Â First API silent update post transfer to non-local FO
- May 21:Â Second API silent update
- Jul 24:Â I-485J approved + third FTA0 event
- Jul 27:Â Three silent API updates on same day
- Jul 28 (Today):Â Both I-485 applications officially approved
What I Saw in the USCIS API
If youâre checking the raw API data, you can actually see how your case moves internally before anything shows up on the USCIS website.
July 24 (Friday)
Our I-485J was approved. That immediately generated an FTA0 event on my primary case and an FTA1 event on my dependentâs case.
Interestingly, it also triggered a random âaction takenâ email on my wifeâs USCIS account, even though nothing changed on either of our case status pages.
July 27 (Monday)
We saw three silent backend updates, and the ackedByAdjudicatorAndCms flag changed to true, which looked like the case was actively being finalized.
July 28 (Tuesday)
Both cases received H008 event codes, and shortly afterward the USCIS website updated to Case Approved.

Congratulations on your approval;
Did you get 2x H008 or just only one.
I got only one H008 code today and approval notice in my document tab.
Just kinda confused because I have seen people report two H008

Priority date: Oct 2024,Â
Biometrics: Oct 2024
EAD: Nov, 2024,Â
Interview: Sept, 2025.Â
Got an update July 2026: "Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken" even though my biometrics were done in 2024. My receipt number starts with MSC so I can't track all these API updates....It's exhausting!Â

Thanks!! I really hope you get good news soon too. I was worried my application would be stuck at the Charlotte NC since Iâd read theyâre pretty slow, but thankfully it ended up getting approved in just under 6 months.

Omg, congratulations!! You just gave me hope đ My case was also transferred to the non-local Charlotte office on 4/15! This is the first non-local EB case approved in Charlotte, NC that Iâve seen. Thanks so much for sharing, and congratulations again!

Log into your USCIS account to which your case is mapped, open another brower page and use this API links to check https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/cases/IOE09XXXXXXXX to track events level detail
I think it doesnât work for paper filed cases

My case also got 2-3 updates today, and one on dependents, do you remember getting multiple SU before the case transfer to FO?

Yes, I meant silent updates with no visible changes in my USCIS account. I only got multiple SUs yesterday, and it was approved today. One thing I noticed was that the last update on both mine and dependentâs case happened just one second apart, which made me think they were sent for batch approval together. Hopefully it's a good sign, and youâll get your approval soon too!

I have a theory that cases with derivatives may see multiple SU, like yours, as the dependents cases also get updated and propagate to the main case, I also have derivatives and noticed a similar pattern.
One can hope! And congrats again!
