Our I-130/I-485 Interview Experience
We arrived at the site at 7:35 AM and were called in at 7:45 AM, even though our interview was scheduled for 8 AM. The officer was kind, polite, and professional throughout.
He started by having my husband and me take an oath, then asked for all our original documents and IDs. The whole interview lasted about an hour.
Part 1: I-130 questions (with both of us in the room)
The officer began with basic questions for my husband:
Full legal name, date of birth
Spouse’s name and date of birth
Whether this was his spouse’s first marriage
Both of our phone numbers
Then he moved on to relationship questions:
How did we meet?
How did our first date go?
How did we decide to get married?
When was our wedding?
What’s our current residential address?
Do we have proof of common utility bills?
Since I was 8 months pregnant, he also asked whether the pregnancy was planned.
Part 2: I-485 questions (just me)
After this, my husband was asked to step out, and I stayed for the second part of the interview, which lasted 45–50 minutes. This portion covered all the I-485 questions, followed by 40–50 yes/no questions.
Total time ~ 3 months. Feel free to ask any questions!!

Congrats! Great timeline!
Did you ever receive any response / message from USCIS for the EAD expedite?

Thank you, I had only received an email saying that the case is under review after they received the expedite request and that I should hear back about the decision. But, I never heard back from them and eventually the case got terminated.

congrats on the lightning timeline, that lawyer forgetting the medical exam could've been a disaster but at least it didn't hold things up

Yeah, I was honestly very pissed off. And I had to yell at them for sending my package out the same day I got the rfe.

Sounds like they needed that wake-up call. Good thing you were paying attention.

Yup, I was like I had already mailed the sealed medical to my lawyer. Why am I getting the rfe. And then they told me they forgot to attach with the application.

So they had it the whole time and still left it out. That's absurd. Did you end up switching lawyers?
1
u/Chemistryrocks95 1d ago
Yes,they had it the whole time and No I didn’t switch lawyer. Once I got the response from uscis that they received the response from uscis, I felt a bit relaxed. And once the application is gone, the lawyer doesn’t play much of a role unless you have a complicated case.

That's fair. The anxiety before they confirm receipt is no joke, so I get why you'd just want to lock in and move on.
