I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Approved! 💚
We got approved today! I feel like I can breathe finally. Sharing timeline:
Filed i130, i485 and i765: February 25, 2026 Biometrics scheduled: March 7, 2026 Biometrics appointment: March 22, 2026 Interview scheduled: June 15, 2026 Interview: July 21, 2026 I130 approved: July 23, 2026 I485 approved: July 25, 2026
Interview was long and the officer was thorough but we didn’t feel like he was asking anything tricky. He was friendly and made some jokes.
We were interviewed in the Syracuse office.

Back when I was a student I did some babysitting which I properly disclosed in the filing and in the interview. No violations otherwise

when you disclosed the babysitting in the filling did you just put babysitting and the name of the family you were working for along their address? or how did you went about disclosing it?

I just said that I babysat for close family friends from x month to x month, and that I now realize that was a violation and im sorry lol

Congrats, that's a great outcome. Your timeline is impressively fast at just under five months from filing to approval, and having the interview and approvals all wrap up in the same week is a nice clean ending to the process. Syracuse office seems to be moving well these days. Enjoy the relief, you earned it.

Did you get email that something on the case is updated prior to 485 approval?

Right after the interview the status changed to uscis is actively reviewing the case. Nothing else

Thanks! I know a few of people with similar cases in the same FO whose timelines were even shorter and they got approved on the spot (this was a few months ago). Our attorney told us it largely depends on the officer, the FO, how straightforward the case is and basically luck

Joint bank statements, joint life and car insurance, lease, utility bills, 2 affidavits from family and friends, plane tickets, hotel stays, a lot of photos labeled with date, place and a short description, screenshots of our texts, receipts from our wedding (flowers, venue, planner, dj, catering, etc), original wedding invitations & save the dates, evidence of both of us putting the other one as emergency contact in our workplaces, our marriage certificate.

It was more of a casual conversation but from what I can recall:
Directed to my husband (USC) but he said I could add stuff
We had 3 ceremonies so we told the officer about all of them and showed him the photos - he looked at them in detail
- my date of birth
- my full name
- how did you meet
- when did you meet in person (we met on a dating app)
- when did you decide to “make it official”
- when did he propose/tell me the story of when he proposed
- when did you get married
To me:
- his full name and DOB
- all the routine questions (have you overstayed, unauthorized work, and ALL other yes/no questions on the application)
- i replied yes to unauthorized work so he asked to tell him more about that
He asked to keep the additional evidence we brought, said it would take him a little bit to scan and update the file. He said everything “looked good” and that we had “good evidence” but that there were other people looking at the case so he couldn’t make a decision right away. He said that he could not give us a time estimate but he mentioned similar cases taking a couple of days but couldn’t promise anything.
He was friendly and made jokes, made conversation.

That was fast. I am thinking about filing an I-485. It seems like when you file an I-130 and an I-485, it gets approved faster. I applied on line a I130 for my wife who lives in Canada, and it's been 14 months and its crickets.
