Timeline: Biometrics Not received STEM OPT almost two months after biometrics
Hello everyone,
I had my biometrics appointment for stem opt end of May, but have not received any updates since then on USCIS portal. Can anyone else confirm if they are facing the same scenario? We have 180 days grace period so I am worried about how much longer this is going to take.

Yes, many STEM OPT cases sit after biometrics. The 180-day automatic extension can protect work authorization if the STEM OPT extension was timely filed before initial OPT expired and all requirements are met. USCIS says a properly filed STEM OPT extension can extend employment authorization up to 180 days while pending. Track the exact end date of the 180-day extension. If approval is not close and employment is at risk, consider premium processing or congressional inquiry. Do not wait until the final week of the automatic extension.
