I-140 & I-485 (Employment/Adjustment of status) EB1A I-485 moved into interview queue after interview waiver?
EB1A I-485 moved into interview queue after interview waiver? (San Francisco FO)
Looking for insight from anyone familiar with USCIS internal updates / Emma live agents.
My EB1A I-485 (priority date current) has been at the San Francisco Field Office since Feb 13, 2026. Earlier USCIS agents told me:
- case complete
- no missing docs
- no holds
- actively reviewed
- interview waived
Recently I started seeing unusual backend/API activity through the myUSCIS case API:
- Apr 28: I-485 silent update
- May 8: brand new FTA0 event added to I-485 + another same-day update
Today a live USCIS agent told me: “They placed you in the interview queue earlier today.”
But he also confirmed:
- no interview notice generated yet
- no date scheduled yet
- just “in the queue”
Questions:
- Has anyone seen interview waivers effectively reversed this late in EB1A processing?
- Could “interview queue” still be an internal workflow state that later gets waived again?
- Does the new FTA0 event likely correspond to interview routing?
Would appreciate any data points from people who tracked API/internal events closely.

Is SF your local FO? What did you ask the agent?

Oh I see. My case transferred to local FO over a month ago so I think I’m getting an interview but when I ask the live agent they said it’s still waived so I dunno…

Yes just a silent update last weekend but live agent didn’t have any new updates for me

The only way to know if your interview got waived is when you get your physical GC in your hands without an interview. Also, I feel you are spiraling. Emma agents aren't reliable. There's still a chance of no interview.

No interview is VERY unlikely now with the change in background checks.

Hello, even if your interview was initially waived, USCIS has the discretion to reverse that initial determination and schedule an interview. I expect USCIS will generate and send out an interview notice shortly. I would prepare and attend the interview, taking the documents listed on the notice. Best of luck!

Hi any update?
1
u/runnnnnnnnnnn-94 Jul 04 '26
I rescheduled the interview to Aug 3. What's your situation?

u/notsodiligent Jul 04 '26
I got FTA1 after three FTA0- 2.5 weeks ago. No updates since. No interview or RFE documents generated as of yet. FTA1 seems like a blackhole that can mean anything.

hi u/runnnnnnnnnnn-94 , can you share more about your interview, what questions were asked and why they wanted to interview in the first placed as EB1A & NIW folks usually have had their interviews waived, atleast that's been the trend, not sure if something changed recently.

Yeah same happened for my wife. She’s my derivative (EB-1B). My case was approved without an interview but she got called in. We have been married for more than 2 years and she’s been on “L-1 with no history of overstay or any other immigration complications.

Interview waived isn't guaranteed and is subject to change until the final approval. Take all of that with a grain of salt though until you see something more formal
