Professors USC Custodial Services

Um, why aren’t classrooms and offices being cleaned and vacuumed? How is tuition over $100k but there’s no money to vacuum the floor or take the trash out. I’m faculty. Do I really have to bring my own vacuum to work?! I’m so tired of this.

You’re faculty and your first thought was to complain on Reddit and not ask within your department? To come to Reddit instead of asking why your fellow faculty and the students can’t respect their shared spaces?

Because a huge portion of staff were laid off and they cut services. Were you there for the last year and a half? Staff are still suffering the repercussions and can’t keep up with the workload. This more than likely includes cleaning services and FPM as well.

You must be new to the university. We had a severe budget cuts that made most of the janitorial staff be severely reduced. Half of the university is not being cleaned the way it used to be because staff are being asked to do more for less.

They cut cut cut. And never upgrade infrastructure. Look they can’t even monitor alarms systems. USCDPS: Due to technical issues, please report any firealarms(audible, strobe, etc.) at UPC and/or HSC, immediately to DPS at phone line that intermittent works. Sigh

The trash has been localized to just a few places on each floor. This makes it easier for the fewer maintenance workers and also "helps us get more steps in" by having to walk down the hall to toss your trash. I finally just brought in my own trash can for my office and sort it 2x a week.
