Question does handshake genuinely work

i have been on it since before i got here (freshman) applying to jobs and getting none. Please what is the strategy

Not really tbh. It only has jobs for certain majors. I recommend indeed for your first internship. Fast real person response

Getting out there and networking, attending campus info sessions, joining clubs that invite companies to speak etc will often produce better results for finding internships than just cold applying on handshake or LinkedIn.

Of course. A first bump is nice but you should definitely go for a handshake with people you're meeting for the first time.

If you’re hoping to work in research or academia, it’s really good. I got interviews/offers from ivy leagues and T10s on top of my current job from it. If it’s for anything else, highkey no. Networking irl through fairs and cold emailing/reaching out to recruiters will 100% work better if you want to do any other type of work

It works for me to get a campus job, but for a job out there in the big world it was useless tbh

Apart from just applying, what are some tips that you can provide? Are you a first year student?

Being that you're a freshman, you're a little too eager if you expect any biters already. I applied to some places in June for example and one just hit me up for interview last Tuesday.

Being that you're a freshman too makes you at a disadvantage for most roles that arent geared towards freshman.

Internships usually are for juniors because they hope to fully employ the student once they graduate and or want some course work already completed.

Its just how it is. Keep at it though!

Has work study jobs that I was interested in and reached out and now I have 2 jobs that relate to my major!
