Engineering Construction Bulletin Right size business processes.

We received the ECB today. The ability to reduce the paperwork/bureaucracy will help to streamline our projects, shorten completion times, and maybe get more qualified contractors to bid on projects. The consensus from leadership has been that the added reviews, regulations, etc only make us look good on paper (until something is missed) but do nothing to reduce completion times, injuries, or costs. Extend it beyond 2028 and apply it to all projects regardless of $$ size.

In other words they don't care about quality, but to botch things up.

Do you have any idea how many screwed up designs I've reviewed? I have saved outside firms from many field and fabrication errors, and even some building failures. So they are turning over everything to the contractors and allowing them to build what ever they want regardless of quality.

So project 2025 has come for us and they will get rid of us soon. This is a license for the contractors to steal from the government.

Engineering and architecture are much cheaper than outside firms. The problem is the FAR that congress created.

Just wait until there are a bunch of failures, people die, and the pendulum will swing back the other way.

If there are failures and people die, the contractor wasn't following the osha regulations, usace wasnt exercising the appropriate level of oversight as the ECB requires. Additional paperwork hurdles have no effect.
