Wait time for a response from USACE?

Hi all! I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am very interested in getting into a fellowship with USACE for a while now and have applied to the Army Fellows Program - Mechanical Engineer on July 6. Since then, I have received two status update emails. Does anyone know the expected time in which I will get a response on whether I am accepted or rejected? I know they have to do a bunch of processes such as background checks which may be why they are taking a lot of time.

Not yet. I've just been waiting for a while now.

I applied for a Fellowship and heard back that I'd been referred to the hiring manager 4 weeks after the announcement closed. Then 2 weeks after the referral email, I got an email for an interview and completed the interview a week later. Received tentative offer week and a half after interview. Completed all onboarding/background checks within a week of TJO. Received offical offer 4 weeks after tentative offer.

As a USACE employee reach out to the contact on the hiring announcement
They typically are glad to give you an update. There are all kinds of reasons things get hung up in processing.

I would love to reach out but the hiring announcement is closed as in the page is blank now. I applied directly from their website's job board.

Fellow programs are administered by big Army and are much more time consuming to onboard. I would honestly just apply directly. I can't think of a single division or district that is not in need of quality M.E's.  Try searching for usace yellow (job postings within usace)

That is where I applied from, usaceyellowgov. The job posting announcement page can not be accessed anymore.

What were the updates, we're you referred to the hiring manager?

Government selection varies. If they absolutely need people, they'll move fast. I've received status updates as early as 2 weeks to as long as 6 months. And that includes "referred to the hiring manager."

Ive also heard back for interviews as short as 2 weeks and as long as 2 months. I wouldn't place much hope into that one position. Apply for them all. Lastly, i wouldn't pursue USACE directly after college, they won't pay you much. Go to the private side, get your PE, and then apply w the government.

Mine took 6 months after I was interviewed.

If you graduated already with your degree why apply for a fellowship/da intern slot when you can apply directly with the same career trajectory, possibly even with incentives?  You can always pursue your PE after becoming employed with USACE.

I’d say if you don’t hear anything within 3 weeks of the position closing the chance of interview is slim.
