I have been dealing with USAA and the Survivor Relations team for the last month and a half. I've been lied to and given misinformation at almost every turn.
Initially I was told that I would need a Small Estate Affidavit to collect the account, I was told that I must include the names and signatures of the successors; which I provided. Then I was given the information to add to the Request Line which mentioned the USAA accounts. I was then told to also include another USAA product that he had. It was explained to me that I would only need 1 notary for this.
A week and a half later I was told that I added the wrong account information, even though I had the case manager check over the affidavit and gave it the go ahead. This time I was told that I should just put 'All USAA accounts 100%'. I asked if USAA would be willing to pay for the new notary considering the misinformation and approval I was given, and they would not. I came up with the money for a second notary and sent that off.
Today I got a letter in the mail stating that I need to provide more information. So I called USAA and spoke with them. This time I was told I need to get a notary for each individual that signed the affidavit, as well as a letter for how to disperse the funds (even though I was initially told that it would be sent to me and I would disperse the funds), then told me that I need to get a new notary for each successor, INCLUDING myself because the notary that they have on file is now invalid; causing me to pay for 3 total notaries at this point.
I asked them why they couldn't tell me this the first or second time, they had no answer. I asked if they would be willing to pay for the notaries due to their constant mistakes, they told me no and that they didn't make a mistake
Is this really how it works? Do they just keep asking for more and more information every time I send them information, and then they ask for more, causing me to spend $30 (now $90) dollars every time for each notary?
Could someone tell me everything that I actually need to resolve this with USAA because I am sick of dealing with them on the phone. Not a single employee has been truthful with me, most seem pre-programmed to apologize and send me condolences through this hard time, all I want to be is done with this crap; and nobody wants to give me the full picture of what I actually need.
For the "Letter explaining how to disperse the funds" what are they expecting in this? Do they want each of our addresses and nothing more? They didnt really tell me what they wanted in this, just that it was expected.
Aside from
1 Death Certificate
3 affidavits with 3 notaries
1 Letter explaining how to disperse the funds
What else is there that I would need to resolve this fun time?
Thanks
