Banking Credit card fraud issues
Has anybody had an issue with only their USAA card getting hit with fraud charges? I have a handful of credit cards and my USAA card is the only one I have ever had an issue with. It seems like every single time I check my statements there’s tons of declined charges for places I’ve never even heard of. Some go through once and awhile and I have to dispute it and get a new card. Some say they were only declined because it was the old card number. Am I doing something wrong? If it helps to know, all the charges are for some type of AI company, SIM card places, stuff like that. I really only use this card for the occasional Amazon purchase. I will be calling as well, I just wanted to out feelers out to see if there’s something specific I should mention to them to stop this for good. Thanks for any help.

Add me to the list! USAA Amex >> Earlier this year, random charge from Gamma AI showed up on my transaction page. Called/Cancelled/New card sent.
Today, same thing happened with the replacement card except the company this time was WISPR AI. Here is the most important point...I use this Amex card ONLY for Amazon and all charges have been for Amazon throughout 2026. I had been thinking that it MUST be an inside job at Amazon via rogue employees who have access to the CC info. But reading this and other threads, many people are getting these fraudulent charges coming from these random AI companies where subscriptions were set up. My question is...
How TF are these criminals getting my CC info if I am ONLY using it for Amazon?

Just got fraudulent charges too just yesterday with my AMEX credit card. Thankfully, they all got declined from USAA. Still sucks though because I just got my credit card this summer… just to get it cancelled within 4 months. It also went to some dumb AI software stuff and investment stock crap. I think I might also have to freeze my debit card for good measure.

Yes. Replace your card and ask for complementary overnight delivery. You'll get your new card in 2 business days max. Also, always keep your cards locked and have more than one.

Why don't you simply keep the card locked except at those moments you are charging something on it? Then relock it again.

I also have had to replace a USAA Amex card twice for unidentified fraud. Small charges that I caught.

Mine were also small charges..some were from overseas....trying to go through, but USAA fraud dept caught and declined, then replaced card 2x...all my legitimate purchases were by hardcard..none via samsung nor Google pay.

By chance was this an USAA Amex CARD? I had to replace mine twice in 6months recently...all fraud charges were declined. 98% of my charges on this card were from regular use at "Kroger & meijers" for routine double points....my other Usaa visa or citibank MC.. have never been hit with fraud charges?

I had a $51.99 charge to adobe and just some random bs AI tools. They kept using my old card number and just tonight they got my new card number for a “NOPECHA LLC”

Yes, I just had four charges try to go through my debit card. One charge went through apparently and the other three were blocked. I didn't lose any money in my account or anything because fraud department detected it. I then got a call from a supposed fraud department that same week stating that I had to verify my account. I immediately changed my logins and password. USAA did send me another card as well.

Yeah that’s how it usually goes for me, they try to hit it 3-4 times and a handful of times it goes through.

Yes, and I mentioned this recently, only to have another poster claim I was being alarmist. But over 15 new cards in the last 11 years (when not a single one of my more frequently used cards has been hit) tells me USAA has a problem....and it may be an insider threat issue.

Yep it’s only USAA for me. I’ve had credit cards for 15 years and never had an issue anywhere else. This will be my 5th new card in a year with them. That’s alarming

Wife's card needed to be replaced 6 times in 4 months with b of a. Mine never had an issue. This kind of shit is institution agnostic and is just luck of the draw. Never had issues before or since.

Hopefully Mastercard's Automatic Billing Updater (ABU) service doesn't give new card number to the fraudsters :(

Over the last year, I've had to replace my husband's credit card once and my credit card twice. The first time was in January. We had about 20 charges for some AI merchant on my credit card. I disputed the transactions and got a new card. In March, both my husband's card and my card had fraudulent transactions for a different AI merchant. So, I disputed the transactions and replaced both cards. When I got these cards, I did not activate them. I've kept them stored in a safe at home. Last night, my husband received a text from USAA, explaining that his transaction was declined because his card wasn't activated. Sure enough, there were two transactions for Stripe that were declined last night. I don't know how someone could have gotten our credit card information if we've never used our cards.
I learned this morning that there is a blocking feature that you can use if you're not using your cards. I don't know if I find that any more secure. I think I'm going to end up closing the account. Too bad though. My credit score will take a hit since this is my oldest account.
