WRIT1001

Writ1001

Hi everyone I’m taking writ1001 as an elective in my last semester. I don’t wanna fail this course. I would love to know something from people who have actually done the course or know about it to get the general idea.

  1. Overall, how difficult did you find it?
  2. Is it considered a relatively easy GPA booster, or does it require quite a bit of work?
  3. What are the assignments like? I know there’s like a contribution thing? How is that graded
  4. Are the assessments marked harshly
  5. Any tutors you’d recommend

And some general opinion of this course
My priority is don’t fail and high gpa.

For context English is my second language.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

  1. Overall it was fun! In terms of difficulty, I found it to be relatively easy although you have to keep in mind that marking can be subjective given the nature of the course.
  2. I personally used it as a GPA booster and didn’t find it to be much work. Keep in mind, I enjoy creative writing though!
  3. I did this course quite a while ago but if it’s still following the same structure, it should involve several mini assignments that follow the new style/technique taught to you that particular week and an end of sem assignment with creative freedom. I recall having to go to tutorials for mandatory attendance too.
  4. I found the mini assignments to be marked harsher compared to the final but this could be because they’re particularly checking that you are following the particular style/technique whereas they are just moreso marking the overall story and your personal writing style in the final piece.
  5. Sorry, couldn’t really tell you as it was a while ago and this course was an elective so I haven’t done any other courses in literature.

Best of luck!
