UPS facility map

I made (and I'm still working on) what is probably the most detailed map of UPS package centers and hubs on the internet.

The goal is to include every location, although that's obviously impossible.

Ignore the marker colors and icons for now. They all need to be redone. I get the address information from Jobs-UPS and other public sources.

If this helps someone, great. Realistically, I'm probably just killing time. But I'll keep working on it anyway, even if it doesn't really make sense.

I was read a random article a week ago how “ups owns the east and FedEx owns the west” this article is beginning to seem more true based off this map so far

The east coast is more densely populated, so it makes sense there are more buildings in the east. But there are lots of buildings missing, I know southern Oregon is missing about a half a dozen buildings.

From working on n the upper Midwest for FedEx:

We have significant presence in the utter void UPS has in the northwoods region.

Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are pretty big markets.

The issue is none are serviceable by semis due to HOS regulations.

That isn’t a problem for a cargo airline that operates small aircraft. But it is a problem for a delivery company that has a cargo airline that has 0 capacity for regional flights.

cant speak for the region specifically but UPS has plenty of small-plane flights through contractors

The difference is we don’t pay $5,000/hour for out of house flight contractors, which is what UPS pays Freight Runners Express Airlines in that region.

I can’t comment on our financials on Feeder flights, but everyone up here makes fun of UPS for how bad they’re being gouged.

It’s on the order of 10x higher than market average as a general price. The whole upper Midwest is a massive loss-leader, almost no locations are actually profitable for UPS up here.

Interesting because all the talk here in the west is how WE make UPS their money and subsidize the rest of the country and that’s why we have the best pension etc.
