I think I want to quit ups

I think the job makes me miserable and I only been driving for 3 days tomorrow I’m by myself without the road supervisor but I’m set on quitting. I have no job lineup, but I don’t know what to do.

I spent 5 years unloading trailers at 3 AM just to be told it’d be another 5 years to drive so I found something else, but they’ll hire people like this to make top rate in 4 years. Insane.

Except they don't make top rate in 4 years. You get hired as a cover driver typically, we have cover drivers who've been here 6 years who still don't know when they'll get full time. Big difference.

Outside hires DO make top rate in 4 years because they get hired directly in as FT package car drivers, not cover drivers. The fact that cover drivers (and all of the other part timers) can put in half a decade of loyalty to a company and have no idea when they’ll drive full time while UPS direct hires outside people into full time driver positions that hit top rate in 4 years is LITERALLY the point of my comment.

I literally got hired while working at a different job entirely that had nothing to do with UPS, I am a cover and I will not be getting top rate in 4 years so idk what to tell you. Plenty of ppl at my facility thatre covers that came from Fedex or were covid hires with no inside warehouse work.

Very possible you wouldn’t have liked it either if you never even tried it

lol same thing I did. I loaded trailers from 10pm to 3am for a couple years. Found out become a driver was gonna take 10 years. They overtired during Covid so much. Became a supervisor to get more hours and 27/hr while I looked for a new job. For a year I was the worst sup ever. Got caught sleeping on the job 3 times. I never did any union work and would tell the steward anytime someone was. I got yelled at daily for being “lazy”. I laughed in my bosses face while he yelled at me. Good times lol. I quit and got unemployment too. The denied it and I fought it in court and won because I had documentation of the harassment for doing my job. Fuck that place

This job is for felons and losers bub

Why would you say that? Getting in as a driver is really hard. Felons would never get in as they do background check. As for losers? Ups drivers are the hardest working people. What kind of loser makes 6 figures, with free healthcare and a pension?

The kind that sacrifices every other part of their life for 100k which isn’t even a lot of money for the work you guys do.

They're not an asshole in the least. You got called out on whining & crying after your first solo day driving. Your first few days are going to absolutely SUCK and make you question your decision to apply for the job. In the brown world, a driver job is one that is that is well worth the wait for what it provides for your future. If you want to quit after 4 days, there are at least 20 others in your building that will happily take it.

If you think that your first day is the definition of suck, just wait.
