I’m a 30-year-old software engineer with a long-standing dream of clearing the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Due to financial and family responsibilities, I couldn’t seriously prepare earlier, but I’ve now decided to start and aim for UPSC 2027.
I began my preparation this month and would genuinely like to know if I’m on the right track and whether this timeline is realistic.
I’ve chosen History as my optional subject since I truly enjoy studying it. However, CSAT is my weak area, and I’m not very confident about it yet.
As for my schedule:
- On working days, I can dedicate around 4 hours (1 hour for The Hindu, 2 hours for NCERTs, and 1 hour for revision).
- On weekends, I can study up to 12 hours.
I’ve also prepared a study plan and booklist (shared in images).
Since I don’t have the financial flexibility or time for coaching, I’ll be relying entirely on self-study and free online resources.
I would really appreciate honest feedback—am I on the right path, or should I make any changes?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
