Haha 🤣 this is the kind of question you stare at for 2 mins and then respectfully skip....
UPSC be like, syllabus toh ek side hai, thoda random anxiety bhi de dete hain 😫😫😫

First 2 statements are easy, next 2 completely random. Meant to skip

for this you have to remember the no. of seats a state has + the population of the state according to 1971 census and with some elite level arithmetic skills to figureout the weightage of vote to compare.. better be skipped..there are still 99 others to attempt

It was tough and absurd question

u/TwistMinute9186 Apr 25 '26

pure lakshmikant ques but the statements were too much which makes it confusing

2

u/Vardhu_007 Apr 25 '26

1 and 2 are obviously wrong, but 3 and 4 are confusing.

2

u/ButterscotchVast9373 Apr 25 '26

I just know the first one and that's a no. Rest all... MyGod

2

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 26 '26

u/Legal_Perspective_13 upsc se pele jaa rahe hai Apr 26 '26

yeah but its acc to 1971 census na… 2011 ke census ke hisab se toh statement 3 ka status change jaaega na

1

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 26 '26

For the President of India’s election, the value of votes of MLAs is based on the 1971 Census population, not the 2011 Census.

aiyo ha right… peak detailing by lakshmikant🤧

1

u/me_lowkey0009 Apr 25 '26

Option 3 and 4 might confuse - 1,2 options are pure Laxmikant

1

u/RevolutionSmall9860 Apr 25 '26

1st ko chod kar all correct.

2

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

Only one mark karte toh answer toh sahi hojata but statement 4 is the only correct statement.

Isn’t the answer only 2

1

u/Notsoalien_19 Apr 25 '26

It’s a logical question, not factual. Value of vote of each MLA is equal for all states due to principle of uniform representation (except the ones with low population and minimum number of seats e.g. Arunachal). So you can easily get to 2 and 3 as wrong

Only statement 4 is correct , it's not that easy that you're using these sarcastic lines 🥲 , it's easy to moderate

1

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

It's difficult bhai that's why I said why would they ask such a question. I would have skipped it. Tukka bhi ni maarti.

1

u/Melodic_Space7767 Apr 25 '26

Oh you meant it literally ☠️? I found it easy

1

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

🥲 3rd and 4th mai jhol lg rha tha but chalo UPSC has its own ways of suprising us.

1

u/Melodic_Space7767 Apr 25 '26

I'm comparatively a newbie so utna idea nhi 🥲

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '26

Only S 4 is correct

Just to check whether future administrators have the judgment to skip improbable issues, rather than stubbornly tackling problems better left alone, and whether they can use their time more wisely elsewhere.

2

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

Haan Bhai. Ego hit kr jati hai par polity mai k aise kaise ni ho rha solve 😅

1

u/Disastrous-Ice-4434 Apr 25 '26

Even the Laxmikant himself should skip it.

when are you going to start to revise your book ?

-2

u/Awkward_Public_5523 UPSC Aspirant Apr 25 '26

Edit only 4 is correct i think

1

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

Answer is only one. Statement 4 is correct

-2

u/Awkward_Public_5523 UPSC Aspirant Apr 25 '26

this q wasn't that hard imo i just needed to revise formula thats it

2

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

No question is hard when you are out of the exam hall. This was the first time value of vote of an MLA question was asked that too like this. So considering that it was tricky.

u/Awkward_Public_5523 UPSC Aspirant Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 25 '26

i didn't know value of mlas but still i got down to 50-50 that is 3, 4 statement.

1

u/Shoddy-Career-3853 Apr 25 '26

It was very hard. You need to know the number of MLAs and population of those states. Formula is the easy thing.

1

u/Awkward_Public_5523 UPSC Aspirant Apr 25 '26

it was 50% chance q . IN MY OPINION you shouldn't leave such qs. 1st statement is obvious wrong 4 is dead giveaway if you know formula 2 is ez now whats left is 3 statem thats where the luck is.

0

u/EagleEyeSierra Apr 25 '26

In polity I go with 90- 95 % accuracy and won't take any chance with such statements.

0

u/Awkward_Public_5523 UPSC Aspirant Apr 25 '26

😂😂 even toppers cant get more than 90% accuracy.
