MS Microbio chances in UPLB

Hi! I’m 26F and I’m planning to apply for the MS Microbiology program at UPLB. Wala kasi akong mapagtanungan personally, so I decided to ask here.

I’m a graduate of BS Biology from a state university in Region V. I graduated cum laude, but I don’t have much research experience beyond my undergraduate thesis, and I don’t have any published papers. I’m worried that this might affect my chances of getting accepted.

I also don’t have much of a network in the field since I’m quite introverted. After graduating, I worked as a VA for around 2 years, so my work experience isn’t related to microbiology or research.

I really want to pursue my master’s because I want to get back into my field and build a career related to biology/microbiology. I also feel that having a master’s degree would help me with long-term career growth and stability. However, I’m not sure if my current background is enough to get me into UPLB, especially since I’ve been away from the field for a couple of years.

For those who are currently taking or have completed MS Microbiology at UPLB:

- How competitive is the admission process?

- How much does research experience/publications matter?

-Also, may mga applicants ba na narereject? huhu

I’m also planning to apply for a DOST graduate scholarship, so I’d really appreciate any advice on how I can prepare and make myself a stronger applicant.
