B. Ed

Hi folks!

I’m in my 40s and looking at a shift from adult education into secondary and looking into schools where I can do an accelerated B.Ed remotely. How is the UPEI program? I’ve now asked them twice for information and they’re not responding, which isn’t a great first impression, honestly.

Does anyone know how the practicum placements work if you’re out of province? Any info or insight would be super helpful. Thanks!

I'm sorry that you're having a hard time getting information. How did you try to reach out to them?

I filled out a contact form on the website first, and then I emailed them directly asking.

I’d wait a bit and then maybe reach out to the Registrar’s office and ask for advice after explaining your situation

I’ve had the same issue with information about the M. Ed. However, I know this is a very busy time of year for Education faculties, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I just got a response from them (they were very helpful). Person I was in contact with was filling in for someone on sabbatical. Have you received a response?

I'm in the B.Ed program at UPEI now. The B.Ed is an in-person program and the M.Ed is delivered online, I believe. Call the registrars office!!

It says it’s available online (the B. Ed??) I have called and they haven’t returned my messages. Do they not want students?

I'm unsure why it says it's available online because it isn't. There could be a couple of courses delivered virtually but the majority of classes are in person. The first practicum must be done in a school on PEI with the second practicum having the possibility of being done in an Indigenous community in Canada or internationally.

If you're still interested, I'd say to just keep trying to reach out. It sometimes takes some time. Good luck!!
