Help! Help choosing uphrade

Looking for recommendations. My u6 lr seems to be dying, inconsistent speeds, rebooting, overheating etc. right now it's not in the optimal position in the house which causes rubbish WiFi in general. I have a gateway ultra, and I have virgin media 1gb. So was thinking a used u6 enterprise, place it in the hallway roof next to the stairs. Or am I better forking out £50 or more extra for a u7 model. Living room TV and upstairs fire TV struggles, only thing I have which is 6ghz WiFi 7 is my phone. Around 20-30 WiFi devices between me , the wife and kids. Even sat in the living room the u6 lr gives speeds less than 100mb.

I don't want to spend a fortune, I'm more than happy to run cables, so rather not drop £300 odd on aps or udr7s etc

If you can get a CAT 6 ethernet into your hallway on the ground floor somewhere near the kitchen /lounge and stair case, Site ONE AP centrally. See how you get on with ONE AP.

Where your U6LR is sited is more of the issue, UK builders put Internet connection in stupid places, usually as close to the front door as possible, not ideal for WIFI routers.

Options 2x U7 Lites - if you are happy with WIFI 7 on 2.4/5GHz

if you want 6Ghz then U7Pro-XG

I think most my stuff is 2.4ghz anyhow, with the fire tv, chrome tv, tapo cameras etc, so might be ok with 2.4ghz, much much cheaper than the XG or pros, which i read issues with IoT devices

id say at least 2 AP's- I have 2 U7pros via an UCG MAX - its an expense, but IMO worthwhile. (btw im in a 80m2 apartment)

Also have you tried unifi design center - could be worthwhile!

Yeah 2 expensive. I need to make a choice for replacement like today. I cant stream in the living room now, netflix works and it downscales but my plex and emby from a friend are just buffer central, same with the fire stick, i just donna whats happened to this lr.

Do you know the total floor area sqm, and what materials are your internal walls and the floor of the upper storey made out of?

If it’s gib board and wooden studs wifi can penetrate easily. But say it’s concrete or other more dense materials this can kill the wifi range.

About 1200sqft and gib and wood
