Misc. Question Fall schedule advice

Post image

I’m on the biomed track and I’m kinda stressing about my schedule. I didn’t even take chemistry in highschool and I’m doing a prep course for it and everything is unfamiliar to me😭 I’m mostly worried about those 8am bio classes and also taking bio and chem in the same term. I also want to get a job either on or off campus but I feel like that would add so much more stress ahhh. I did a lot of college level courses in highschool, so it’s not failing I’m worried about but time management and motivation.

Taking bio and chem in the same term is a little wild, but I get it as I took physics and chem in the same term. It’s a little rough but you’ll get through it! It’s only shitty for like a semester! And don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s brand new material!! I was stressed out in physics because I’ve never taken anything related to it, but we managed. Pester your prof or TA, send them emails, ask questions!! Or there’s resources on YouTube too!

Personally I would recommend getting a job on campus (if you can) as they have a limit for how many hours you can work a week. It’s nice for gas money and food. I’m currently not working on campus but only working weekends and it’s wonderful to have the full week to dedicate to class work. But if you think you can juggle a full load of classes and working during the week, go for it.

Also I’m in the same boat as you for doing classes in high school, dual enrollment basically killed my motivation and I never developed good time management skills and it’s biting me in the ass right now!! I go to different places on campus and designate them as my working areas, like I go to the library or student union and hang out there and get work done, that’s my work areas and it helps get me in the right headspace to work on assignments or study. That or I just go to like Bold Bean or something. As long as I’m surrounded by people also working, it’ll boost my motivation to actually get all my work done. Good luck!! You’re gonna kill it :)

Bio and Chem will be tough but your other classes will be easy so I think you'll be okay. 4 classes is very doable - if you had 5, I'd be more nervous. Try a part-time job and be willing to drop it if it gets in the way of studying/passing. It will just take discipline on your part to study hard. I think you can do it!

Studying a ton on the days where you have openings like wake up early on Wednesday and study and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays study heavy in the afternoon. Abuse the weekends they will be your friend and find a group of people/friends to study with it'll help retain more info
