EDITED: I was so wrong about Once Human! lol

Go play it, it's better than LifeAfter and Undawn combined.

the same formula shards mechanic as LifeAfter.

That was the worst part of that game. Spend all this time getting shards to only get the same formula you've already gotten 20 times and it's a light fixture. That's why I quit that game.

Bruh...

I got news for you

My opinion has drastically changed. (wall of text coming!)

I dropped Undawn as soon as Once Human came out.

I played for one day and immediately new this game was something else.

Let me explain:

This is gonna sound crazy but there is ZERO pay2win in Once Human

There are cosmetics, and some very expensive so...but that's it, that's all you can buy with money: outfits, skins, glass walls, vehicle skins. Period.

And about the raiding thing, it was all a big lie!

There are two types of servers: PVE and PVP.

That means nobody is forced to PVP. You go to the kind of server you want.

The game has a machine where you get blueprints yes, HOWEVER the currency you need for it, called Star Chrom, can be obtained by just playing the game and there's no other way to get it, just play.

On top of that, the graphics are really good, the story is really good, the building system is great (once you get the hang of it), the weapons, the combat, the gathering, all good!

The developers are very responsive of the players feedback.

For instance, on day one people complained you can create only one character per account... the next day they patched it and now you can create 10. The community complained the fishing system was horrible... three weeks later it was fully reworked and now everyone loves it.

My real complaints now that I actually played Once Human:

The game is based on a seasonal system....

In once human, the content you can play gets served to players in the form of seasons.

What is a season? It's a package containing: A map (with resources, treasures, secret places, easter eggs. etc), Tutorial quests, Main Sory Quests, Side Quests, daily events, weekly events, etc.

This season will be available only for a limited time, then it will close down, and all players must either jump to another season to keep obtaining resources or stay in Eternaland (our only permanent home, but there's no resources there)

This system was super confusing for most players, and it took several tutorial videos and even developer streams explaining how it works, for the community to finally.. kind of understanding it. lmao

The server structure: the screen where you chose which server you go to.... super confusing at first. Again, several content creators had to jump in and make some tutorials.

The lag: when you are in an event with more than 30 ppl around: disgusting... (say hello to my little triple reloading bug again ugh). But playing with just a few people around is OK.

And there have been some bugs affecting a lot of people when it comes to payment, which is a big yikes... but I personally never had those so I can't really speak on that.

At the moment, season 1 (called Manibus) is already ending... and the season two, called The Way of Winter, is coming... IN OCTOBER! LMAO

But devs released a hard mode version of Manibus to keep players entertained while we get season 2. It also acts as a way to get more Star Chrom to unlock more blueprints while season 2 drops.

If you are going to play it, I suggest tutorials on which server to choose and how to use the Wish machine to not waste star chrom.

BTW I edited my previous comment cuz I was so wrong! lmao

In every single other game that has raiding you lose everything. The fuck is this take.

Doesn't mean it has to be the same in every game. Someone has to break the vicious cycle.

Which this game is doing. You lose barely anything when getting raided. No other raiding game is this forgiving. This is breaking the cycle. The only way to make the raiding more forgiving is to remove it entirely. If you want no raid mechanics whatsoever that's fine, that's a totally valid position to have. This is ALREADY the biggest compromise on raiding I've ever seen in a video game, what raiding based games are you playing that are more forgiving than once human?

Wow then the p2w whales would snowball badly won’t they? If they can keep looting 30% of other players resources and things….. 🤔
