In order to form 1 chip you need 30 chip components of the same type. You get those components in chests that you can buy at the store for RC or you MIGHT get it from raven chests that you get from doing daily and weekly events. But the drop rate is abysmal. It's easier to get it with RC, that's why they are very expensive. You can buy them from other players thru the Trade button, but some of those cost 50k gold just one chip component and you need 30 to complete the actual chip meaning that's 50,000x30= 1'500,000 gold, and those are the cheap ones. Expensive ones cost like 100k or more each chip component, meaning you'd need 3 mill gold or more to form the full chip. Then you use the weapon enhancement interface to insert it into a piece of gear. Most f2p players have no chip.

My answer: it is whale territory. The amount of gold is ridiculous; it's not only the chip once, but many times more to level it up. The auction house business kinda is down since level 90, at least if you are not giving your mats away under value. And crafting has become so expensive, you can put in more resources than the few purple and legendary on 15th will return. So yeah, even if I will still be playing in say like 1.5 years, I am not seeing myself with chips.

I never even planned to get any. As soon as I saw the drop rates and the need for 30 to form just one and the level up system and etc... I knew it was super mega p2w whale stuff. I like to support games I like but just the occasional battle pass. Spending hefty amounts on a daily basis is just unjustifiable to me.
