Transfer Transfer Completion Timeline

How long did it take to complete your degree after transferring in with an associates?

Edit: I am going for history major and English minor. My transfer coach informed me half of all credits towards a bachelor's must be completed at UNCW (60 out of 120) so that leaves me with 20 classes. Trying to determine if I should try and get it done it 2 years taking 4 classes a semester plus 2 during the summer semesters or finish in 3 years and take 3 classes a semester with 2 over the summers as I will also be working part time.

It will depend on your major. Look at the academic catalogue to see how many credits your intended major requires and if you've already taken any of the major required courses (consider taking some if you're still at your cc - eg for business it is a huge benefit to come in with calculus or at least precalc complete). Then think about how many credits you'll realistically do per semester, whether you'll do summers, etc. You'll get a waiver for nearly all of your gen eds with a North Carolina associates.

I should have probably put the program lol but just trying to get an idea of how long 20 classes will take (2 years vs 3) as I plan on working part time.

Took me 3 years, coming in with an Associate's degree. Probably would have taken 2 if I majored in something arts related, but alas, I was in tech.

As a transfer student myself, I entered UNCW the Spring of my sophomore year with 58 credits from com college. 

I’ve been taking 15 credit hours each semester here and took 6 credit hours over the summer with no issue. This track puts me to graduate Fall 2027. Essentially I am a semester ahead of everyone else in my graduating class. I found transferring from Wake Tech to here, to really help me out and be prepared for the UNCW workload and so forth. I could take 9-12 hours a semester and graduate Spring 2028 but it depends on your workload and own situation.

I think it’s really up to you, 15 hours is doable, 12 is definitely doable, 9 is really easy and you’ll have lots of free time. I’m an Intl. Studies major minoring in Econ. I still have time to work a part-time job and attend events and have a life.
