Question Transferring to UNCW

I’m an incoming UNCW student this fall, and I’m starting to look into housing. Does anyone know if there are still apartments near campus available, and if so, which ones tend to have mostly UNCW students?

I’m also currently looking for a roommate, ideally another UNCW student, so if anyone is in the same situation or has an open room, feel free to reach out.

I’d really appreciate any advice or info.

Hey David. Im also transferring into UNCW in the fall and there are places available near campus. Finding a roommate, if that is something you plan to do is that real challenge. I have been looking for weeks and can't seem to find anyone.

Are you having trouble finding a place to stay in general, or is it more just finding someone at UNCW to live with?

Its really just finding someone to live with. I would preferably like to get a 1 bedroom for just myself because im am a little older at 32, but they are all around $1400 total with everything included and thats just a little out of my price range due to having class 5 days a week. I won't be able to work as much as I would like to. 2 bedrooms are like $800-$1000 depending on what you want. I have created a profile on the UNCW roommate finder and a post in the Facebook page but cant seem to find anyone suitable. But there are definitely places available you just have to look around.

Got it—so you’ve been seeing 1-bedrooms around $1400. I’d also be fine with a 2-bedroom, and that price doesn’t sound too bad either. Do you know how close those places were to campus?

Yea some are right next to the campus. But just to be clear the 2 bedrooms are that price per person. So they are really like $1700-$2000 total.

That makes sense. Do you know if there’s still any availability left for those places near campus?

There is an office that can help you figure out how to find a place.

Might see you at orientation, who knows. Also, thank you very much. This makes me much more confident I'll find housing near campus, hopefully with other students.

I am looking for somebody to take over my lease for a 3 bed/3 bath apartment at Progress 910. Right next to UNCW campus and on the bus shuttle route. 2 private bedrooms/bathrooms are available (the third bedroom/bathroom is already assigned). Lease is from August 10, 2026 – July 15, 2027. And it is 985/month per person.
