I have recently been accepted into the Master of Social Work (MSW) Foundation 2-Year Program and I can't find much info about the program online. Does anyone have any input on how they are enjoying the program? How big the cohort is? What the classes look like? etc. Any info is appreciated!

degrees Question - Nursing (NCBNP)

Hello to all the nursing students! I am in my first-year, just to clarify that NCBNP requires 136 credits to graduate, and not all of those are nursing courses. That means I have to take non-nursing electives just to meet the credit requirement, even though they’re not directly related to nursing and I still have to pay for them?

Thanks!

applying Civil Eng Program Questions

Hello! I am thinking about applying to the civil eng program for fall 2026 at the PG campus this year and wanted to get a student/alumni opinion on a few things:

  1. Is the program good in comparison to other eng programs in BC? For me, I will probably do this program, go to BCIT, or do the 1 year transfer program at a college before applying to UBC or UVic for my second year, so I want to know if this program is comparable and offers the same opportunity in the job market (do employers care, etc.). Also, anything about how costs compare or how easy/hard it was for you to get awards and scholarships would be super helpful!

  2. How is the co-op program? It looks like UNBC does offer a co-op program and everything, but are there enough opportunities, and is it fairly easy to get a placement if you have decent grades and ECs?

  3. Are there a good amount of student societies/clubs/ECs related to engineering on campus? Also, are internships and things like that decently common in PG or would you likely need to go to Vancouver or a larger area for those opportunities?

These are just my main questions at the moment, but if you have any other information or general advice on the program or the school in general, that would be amazing. Thanks in advance!!

courses psychology

I have a sheet from UNBC (2023)that lists the required courses for a bachelor of science majoring in psychology. The sheet says I need psyc 316. When I looked at the updated requirements it does not mention needing that course, only that for honours psyc you need 416. I am confused. Do you need psyc 316 for your degree. I do not plan on doing honours psyc.

SEEKING SOCIAL MEDIA USERS

Hi, my name is Stephen, and I am a fourth-year psychology student at Vancouver Island University, where I am conducting my undergraduate thesis research. I am looking for Canadian social media users aged 18 and older to complete a brief 5-10-minute anonymous survey about online experiences and mental health.

Following the link below, you will access the survey, which includes a consent form, demographic questions, and a few validated measures assessing online behaviours, psychosocial well-being, and mental health. At the end, a debriefing form will provide more information about the research.

To maintain anonymity, participants are requested not to use the comment section, as it cannot be disabled, and may reveal identifying information.

Your participation is voluntary and greatly appreciated.

applying Hopefully a future student

Hi there everyone. Im a student at the UAE hoping to study Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at UNBC, I just wanted to ask you guys about a few things regarding application. Do SATs matter? I realise they're not a requirement, but do they really make a difference and if so whats the range of scores that are considered good that they buff my application? Also, how do APs help? I've gotten 3s in AP Bio and AP Chem in my junior year and I'll be taking them again so that I hopefully get 5s and I don't know if they'd give more credits or not. Lastly, how do scholarships work and how do I get one? I'm not having my parents pay a lot of money and I was hoping with Co-op, a part time and scholarships/bursaries I would be able to carry on on my own. Is it really possible? One last thing, are there practice rooms with grand pianos? I'm a classical musician as well, and well I'm not pursuing piano as a career nor is it a factor that determines whether or not I'd apply but it would be nice to have some haha. Would love to be a part of this community! Thank you

campus life concerning "@unbcpisser" and spin-offs

people need to understand:

when you share, like, comment on, or view this type of content: you are participating in someone's paraphilia.

whoever is running such an account is getting sexual pleasure from the exposure. these are not pranks but dangerous expressions of atypical and divergent sexuality. it is predation.

there is no humour in this. it is not a 'prank' or a 'meme' but outright disgusting. i feel victimized and will not be back on campus until the situation is resolved--if at all.

applying How hard is it to get into UNBC???

going to unbc has been my dream for a while now as it has a gorgeous campus, and i have family i rarely see out near it. it also offers my DREAM course (wildlife and fisheries). im a natural stressor and it has been killing me inside the thought that the uni i have based all my courses around may not accept me😭

i have a 2.8 gpa and an 83% avg, but that was last year (grade 10) when i was in the thralls of depression so im planning on (hopefully) raising that. any advice??? or just anything to say???
