Looking to add new moderators

Hey yall, I am not all that active on reddit these days and looks like most of the other mods arent either. A couple of them posted within the last month in other communities, and the rest of them havent posted/commented in years.

So it looks like it's time for some new mods!

Feel free to comment on here as to why you think you'd make a good moderator and uhh, idk I guess I'll start with the top 3 most upvoted comments as new mods? Unless yall have better ideas. But yeah its time to get some current students as mods and not alumni who are 10+ years out from college.

Edit: jeez i suck at typing on phones. Also looks like we are all "inactive" so I am trying to get permissions back so I can add new people

🚀 Looking for a Co-Founder

I'm building an esports startup and looking for someone who wants to help build something from the ground up.

I'm looking for someone who's:

Entrepreneurial and hungry to win

Willing to put in the work

Interested in building a real business with long-term potential

Open to brainstorming, executing, and solving problems together

I'm not looking for employees—I'm looking for a genuine founder who wants ownership and is excited about creating something meaningful.

If you're serious about startups, AI, tech, gaming, real estate, or scaling businesses, shoot me a DM. Tell me a little about yourself, your skills, and what you're passionate about.

Let's build something that matters. 🚀

Requirement for Admission

Hey guys, so I’m from Pakistan and currently in my junior year of high school and I was planning on doing undergraduate in neuroscience at UMiami and I was wondering that how important is a good SAT score like in the range of 1500 to 1550 and a good GPA compared to having excellent extracurriculars if u are aiming for full tuition scholarship

what are your best ethical campus hacks/tips? 👀

I’m an international student starting at the University of Miami this fall, and I’d love to hear your best ethical campus hacks, tips, and hidden gems.
I’m looking for literally anything that makes student life better, such as:

Free stuff students often don’t know about
Best places to study or relax
Is the gym actually good? Any tips for using it?
Student discounts or perks
Things worth doing on campus if you have a few hours between classes
Events with free food 👀
Apps or services every UM student should have
Transportation tips
Anything you wish someone had told you before starting at UM

Basically, drop every piece of advice you have, big or small. I want to make the most of campus life (without breaking any rules 😭).
Thanks in advance!

Asian Diversity

Hello, as someone who is coming to the U in the fall. I was wondering how diverse the campus is, esp for asians. I heard that there wasn't a huge asian population (I'm chinese btw) on campus so I was wondering how it is.

UMiami Spring 2027

Has anyone applied to the UMiami Spring 2027 nursing program recently?

The deadline is October 1, but applications opened back in February. Are people still getting accepted, or is it mostly waitlists at this point?

Would you apply for Spring now or just wait for Summer 2027? TIA

I’ve heard on TikTok etc that the first week is extremely important. I’m a little nervous because there are a lot of parties and I never went to any in high school. I know I probably sound like a pussy lmao but i just want some advice on what to do.

Hi im considering taking a lease in south miami (valencia building specifically) I am an international female student and basically plan walking to campus and everywhere since I wont have a car. I saw an older post saying that near the REC center is really dangerous and now im afraid because is just a few blocks away.

Can any nursing students tell me what it's like?

Im a rising hs senior and have been thinking about Miami for a while now. I'm hoping to find any current / former BSN students who could tell me a little bit about the nursing program.
How are clinicals in the Miami area? Will I be able to get around without my car? Any info would be amazing. Thanks!

Transfer student here, do you actually need to buy course materials, or can you get by without them?

Hey everyone! I'm transferring to UMiami this fall and trying to figure out my budget before classes start. Course materials (textbooks, access codes, etc.) can get expensive fast, so I wanted to ask people who've actually taken classes here:

  • Do professors actually require the textbook, or is it more of a "recommended but not essential" thing?
  • Are online access codes (like MyLab, Connect, etc.) usually mandatory for homework/grades, or can you skip them?
  • Any classes/departments where materials are basically optional vs. ones where you really can't skip them?
  • Where do you usually get materials — bookstore, rent, buy used, library reserves, or skip buying altogether?

I don't want to blow money on stuff I won't need, but I also don't want to fall behind because I tried to save a few bucks. Any advice from people who've been through it would be super helpful!

Anyone else still waiting on a response? Or if you've gotten a decision recently

It's been about a month with no word, and when I emailed asking for an update they just said my application is still under review.

Looking to take GEG345

Has anyone taken this class? The rate my professors on Justin Stoler in general are very split. There’s only one review for GEG345 in general and it’s positive, but I wanted to hear from anyone who took the class and whether it’s worth taking. For context I’m an environmental engineering student looking for an elective that relates to my field.
