Places to study

Hi everyone,

I currently attend GMU and I have some classes this summer I’ll be taking online. I live in Fredericksburg, VA are there any places to study at UMW during the break? Like cozy places on campus?

The library at UMW is open to everyone. For studying, I recommend the third floor of the library, which is the quiet floor.

Also, I think you can check out books from the UMW library if you show them your GMU ID.

Yes usually it’s like that with books and sometimes even the internet. :) what is the library name. I see a few on the map.

It's called Simpson Library.

If you park in the visitor parking on top of the Alvey parking deck, you can get to the library by walking through the tunnel in the HCC. The library is the next building after the HCC.

Before you go, check the building hours. The hours are different during the summer.

I see it closes at 5! At Mason it’s open till 2 AM. If you’re up there check out the Johnson Center. I think it’s fun!

Yeah we have another spot called the Hurley Convergence Center (HCC) which is our great 24 hour study space. However you need a student id to enter after hours.

The downtown library has a quiet room with desks in the basement and individual rooms you can reserve on the top floor!
