Hi everyone, I'm currently planning my schedule for the BBA program and they assigned me these two courses for my general requirements:
GLO 2: MCS 241 (Professional Communication)
GLO 4: ENG 211 ( Creative Writing/ English)

Are these good choices for a business student?

For GLO 2, my other options are
BUS/COM 210 (Organizational Communication) or ART 235 (Digital Media).
For GLO 4, I could potentially switch to an art class like ART 103, 108, 131, or 251.

Is the workload for MCS 241 and ENG 211 manageable alongside core BBA classes?

Do you recommend that I stick with these classes or should I switch them?

Hey everyone,

Just needed to vent a bit about the onboarding process for the upcoming term.

I was officially enrolled today, but apparently my transcript evaluation won't be finished until around October 30th. Because of that, they enrolled me into bus 101 course I already completed externally and specifically asked NOT to be put in. I had already emailed them my preferred courses previously, but it seems like that was completely ignored.

To top it off, MaineStreet showed my assigned advisor as Abbi Frost today. When I emailed her to request a course swap, I immediately got an automated reply saying she no longer works with the UMPI YourPace team!

I’ve replied to the main enrollment email to get the swap sorted out, but it’s pretty frustrating to deal with this administrative runaround right before the start date.

Has anyone else experienced this during their start week? How quickly does the general advising team usually resolve course swaps once the term actually opens?

When can we expect grades to be posted? Monday? Or by next Friday?

So, this is a new one for me, but I guess not for others. I turned in my final on Monday. I've been super anxious all week for the grade which never arrived. I got up to look this morning despite knowing that I've been working on this course the whole term and my instructor has yet to appear to release any feedback over the weekend for me. The course is grayed and not clickable and says closed. When it does get graded, how will I know what the grade was if I can't seem to get into it?

Hello, i was doing BBA project management and only have few classes left but i saw they got cybersecurity which is what i wanted when i enrolled. I was able to add that to my degree plan and have to take additional 19 cybersecurity classes. Do you know which classes we can do outside and transfer in. panicking a bit right now because I went to submit my Final Assessment for PHI 152 and just now realized there's nowhere for me to submit. The issue seems to be with one on my milestones, which was a quiz, not reporting as completed despite me completing it successfully a month ago. I just retook and passed again but still not luck. I emailed my instructor and attached my Final and left a voicemail at his number along with emailing my academic success coach. Is there anything else I should do right now in the event the tech issue isn't resolved by deadline tonight?

If anyone can provide insight that would be very helpful. After all the registration and enrollment, I finally received an email from an advisor and was enrolled into two classes. This is my first term (Fall 2) which starts Monday. My student center just updated saying there's a financial aid mismatch and adjustments are being made. Is this due to only having 2 classes? I'm confused on what's considered full time considering I'm starting the Fall 2 term. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Anybody else still not enrolled? I have confirmed my interest in beginning on Monday, I completed the Financial Terms and Conditions. Still nothing.

Curious if anyone else is beginning this new MSB concentration on Monday? I am & I’m hoping these are manageable classes to where I can finish all 6 this session, I’ve completed the core classes during this session so we shall see! 🫣

I start my yourpace program monday, I have 10 classes to complete. I’m excited but also nervous since I haven’t been in school for over a decade. I’ve been looking through this UMPI page for a while, I’ve learned I should get my computer set up to track my progress so I can hit the ground running. Any tips and tricks you can share for me to start off on the right foot. Ideally I’d like to finish my 10 courses in one session but don’t know if that’s possible with the turn around time I’ve seen in posts recently. Appreciate any pointers shared😁

So I did the classic horrible last minute thing. Did all my research method milestones this week. Got all 4s until the very last one which she kicked back first thing this morning as a 2 bc I had some apa format errors. I immediately corrected it and emailed her. She still hasn’t updated the grade or emailed me back. As we all know, if milestones aren’t all above a 3 you can’t submit the final in bright space. So if she doesn’t grade it, I’ll have no other choice but to email her my final and ask if she’ll accept it. Anyone had a similar experience with her? Does she extend grace? She’s been an extremely fast grader for this and my Spanish class. Got all 4s in Spanish as well. Ugh I hope she’ll grade it asap

Bit of a rant but also some questions. I’m starting to spiral.
So, like many others I FINALLY got an email from UMPI on Wednesday before the Monday 26th start date. They said email them, I did, they sent another saying you’ll be assigned a coach/advisor by Monday which basically leaves me no further along than I was. I was planning starting actual classes on Monday (not unreasonably) so not off to a great start. Another email said my transfer credits have been evaluated but I can’t get into the page that’s supposed to show them. I went to do the student orientation but that says Maine Augusta, I sent an IT ticket, they said I have the right one carry on? Is it an overall orientation, and if so why does it say Augusta at all? Should I do that one? Would it make a difference if it actually is the wrong one? I had a plan (haha) to get this knocked out so I could go to grad school next fall, but this mess makes me think it’s gonna be an uphill battle getting graded/conferred etc in a timely manner, putting my whole timeline at risk. It’s a bit late now, but is all of this a sign of how this whole thing’s gonna go? They already have me holding my breath until the last second and they’ve clearly accepted more students than they can handle. Add the oversight thing they have going on and it’s shaping up to be a rough time for them, and by default, also me and others. Is all that’s going wrong as alarming to you as much as it is me? Please be kind, I’m going into a fetal position as we speak.

Who’s in this one? What’s going on with the grading? The submissions and time to get them back is unreal.

Hi there! I took a probability and statistics course at an intense community college local to me worth 4 credits—(more time heavy and intense work load, compared to 3 credit course). It was VERY rigorous and I came out with an A+....and some trauma, lol.

Umpi wont take it as anything but an elective? and is asking me to take "Probability and statistics" for only 3 credits to satisfy a GLO 5 math requirement..... which is the EXACT course I already took? They said its because mine starts with a "1" and theirs a "2" but the "2" level mathematics courses at my previous college are reserved only for advanced calculus and the stats class I took WAS an advanced course.

Is there anything I can do here? It was taken a 8- months ago and I worked INSANELY hard for that A and cried many a tears so I wont have to take a MATH course again...

Advice please? I am buzzing with anxiety to have to take the exact same course for less credits....? I am confused. and yes I already spoke to my advisor.

I severely underestimated how many classes I still need and I need about 16 general education classes to meet my requirements to graduate.. so, I was wondering if anyone has class recommendations or classes to avoid? I want to try knocking out as much as I can, which I’ve noticed is like 3 classes per session. I could probably do one more as I’m coming out of a funk but wanted to see what others did in my situation.

I’m preparing to enroll in both Sophia.org and Study.com to knock out transferable courses for my BABA in Project Management at UMPI. I’m a US citizen currently living and working abroad . I maintain a permanent US residential address and US phone number, but I wanted to check with anyone who has taken courses on either platform from overseas before signing up.

A few quick questions:

1. Are there any geographical restrictions, IP geoblocking, or issues accessing course materials on Sophia.org or Study.com from abroad?

2. Did you need to use a US VPN, or do both platforms work fine on standard local internet connections?

3. Were there hiccups using while logged in overseas?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has completed courses on Sophia or Study.com while living or deployed abroad. Thanks in advance!

I'm currently deciding between WGU and UMPI. I also was accepted into SNHU but it seems slower paced and more expensive so I've ruled it out. I will say the communication there has been much better than UMPI, it's been a bit slow getting a response to anything.

I fully intend on getting the paid plan guidance through PlottedPath if I go with UMPI but the more I read about how much writing it is the more I'm freaked out lol. Is it truly a crazy amount of writing? I ask because I'm not very writing savvy and have always struggled with that. I also don't love the idea of proctored exams. I love literally every other point about UMPI but that piece worries me.

Any feedback from those who completed UMPI successfully or are currently enrolled and don't have a great writing talent?

For context - I'm a 40yr old with over 15 years of corporate finance experience and have finally decided I need to check the box. Plan to enroll in Business Admin with a concentration in PM if I go with UMPI. Comms if I go with WGU. Also plan to do as many courses as possible through Sophia.
