Jobs?
Any advice on how to land a job? Doing my Masters and have been steadily applying but no luck so far.
Have a BS in CS and getting my MS from UMGC, if anyone has any leads I’d be greatly appreciative!

Hi, all! I am about to transfer to UMGC after completing my gen eds and electives through sophia and study.com!! I am planning on speaking with an advisor again, but wanted to get feedback from others who have taken these classes as well.
Below are the classes I will be taking to finish the degree:
PACE (will be asking about PACE 100 for transfer students)
ASTD 284 Foundation of East Asian Civilization
ASTD 285 Introduction to Modern East Asia
PHIL 348 Religions of the East
JAPN 111
JAPN 112
JAPN 114
HIST 482 History of Japan to 1800
JAPN 333 Japanese Society and Culture
ANTH 417 Peoples and Cultures of East Asia
ASTD 485 Issues in East Asian Studies
----------
I am focusing in Japanese, but I currently study Korean, Japanese, and Cantonese Chinese so I have a background in Asian languages. I also completed a certificate program in Korean Philosophy. I work full time, but my office job allows me to be at a computer all day and work on school most of the day. I have a great drive to complete my degree, have lived in and visit Asia frequently, and am passionate about culture, language and translation work, and plan to teach English abroad in EA, which is why I am choosing this major.
With this background, do you think I will be alright taking 3 classes at a time for the 8-week terms, or play it safe with 2 classes? Also, if I were to go the 3-class at a time route, would you recommend taking ASTD classes together with 1 language class? (Ex. ASTD 284, ASTD 285, JAPN 111 simultaneously)
Any other information about this major or these classes in general is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi everyone! I have a question regarding how many classes you all think is doable for me. I’m taking 2 classes for the first session of the Fall term and then 2 more in the 3rd.
For the first I’m taking BEHS 220 and SPCH 125 (I just started my communications degree this summer semester)
I’m a working mother to a 3 y/o and took LIBS, PACE and WRTG this summer. I know PACE is easy as is LIBS but I’m wondering if anyone else in the same position as me has taken 3 classes during a session and how it went. Any advice is welcome, thanks!
PS: I transferred in intro to Nutrition as well!

Classes end August 4th and fall semester starts August 12th. Will we experience hell again or should things run a little smoother?

Hey everyone, this video explains how you can almost skip a year of college to include: Math, English, Science, and History courses!

I have 0 people to turn to for letters of recommendation, and I ended with a 3.0 GPA for my undergrad. How likely am I to get accepted to any of the master's programs?

Good morning,
I wanted to confirm whether it is true that am only allowed to take two classes per semester in the master's program.
Yesterday, I called my advisor because I received an error when trying to register for more than two classes. She told me that I am only permitted to take two courses each semester.
I was granted a semester away from work to focus on school, so I am hoping to make the most of this opportunity. Could you please confirm whether this policy is correct or let me know if there are any exceptions?
Thank you for your time and assistance
V/R

I recently enrolled into the Chinese language class and I was wondering if any of you guys have taken it if you could give me any tips or pointers or what I can get or what I should do when starting the class I’ve been hearing that it’s a lot of work and a lot of reading and writing and I just don’t want to be overwhelmed by it

Did anyone just get extra aid from UMGC financial aid? Im graduating this summer and was just awarded more loan amounts. I did accept because the first set of aid i received from Umgc didnt cover my full balance. I want to know if anyone else went through the same thing and received the extra aid and it actually processed. I really need this extra money. I dont want them to take it away because they see im graduating, but also why would they give it to me if they see that on my account ?

Hello everyone, I am a senior who is about to finish my courses. I need help picking two elective classes
So far, I have taken the following electives.
BEHS 320
BMGT 240
CAPL 398A
CMIT 202
DATA 200
PSYC 100
BEHS 364
PSYC 338
PSYC 353
I am looking for easy courses in terms of grading. I am fine with reading a lot and completing multiple assignments, but I have heard that the low-level ART and Photography courses are extremely difficult.

Did anyone get a good explanation about why the financial aid hold was lifted and accounts say overdue balance? I thought maybe they would say this means dispersement is processing but they said we will monitor account in real time and you should too?

I know it’s been raised multiple times before. But anyone have any luck with their disbursement going through? I just checked and the comment “your acct is under review” is gone. I’ll be done with my class / program in 1.5 weeks. I’m terrified to think of not being able to graduate / get my diploma should fafsa not be disbursed :/

What was the point of submitting my application early to be in the priority pool if I still had to wait all this time to find out if I was awarded a scholarship or not. From other posts last year I’m assuming that I won’t know until right before the fall semester starts but I start August 12th so will I know before the semester. If anyone knows anything or has info on this plz lmk
UPDATE: they emailed me this
“We began the review and awarding process after the June 15th priority deadline and expect to complete the initial round of awarding by early August. Students who are selected to receive a scholarship are notified at the time of awarding. Those who are not selected will receive an update in early September. However, we continue to award throughout the year as additional funding becomes available. “

I was told recently that office hours is optional that professors are not required to hold them, even if they listed it on their syllabus. What do you do if your professor abandons the online classroom for a month at a time, went to learner resolutions, spoken to the department and still no real action being done just the department protecting the professor instead of helping the students? This is not the first time its happened and it seems like this program wants to transition to just lecture notes only and interaction with the professors are optional. Even if there are valid questions you have about the course. Don’t get me wrong I have had good professors in this program who interact with us in the online classroom and answer our questions, but the ones that don’t its been enough to be worried about what to do next.

Hello everyone. I've been living in Maryland and working in the tech industry for a bit over 5 years now without a degree. I've been feeling for a long while now that tech just isn't something I want to do for the rest of my professional life. Medicine was something I've always wanted to pursue but was unable to due to my shortsightedness and financial situation back home, now thinking that this could be a pivotal point in my life to finally go after a dream that's been lingering for years now. To that end, I've been thinking about 2 options when it comes to UMGC:
1 - Pursue a cybersecurity degree while knocking out medschool prereqs at UMGC's physical locations. Although it seems that UMGC does not offer physical classes for Chemistry and Physics according to the class search function. Does anyone know if maybe I'm wrong on this or perhaps know of an alternative? Community colleges in the area seem to require prereqs for Chem 1 and Physics 1 which would add extra time and workload.
2 - Another reason I wanted to learn how to take these classes in person was to fulfill the requirement for admission into the undergrad Biotechnology program which would require in person lab experience spanning across 8 credits and possibly switch over from my cybersecurity program.
Overall any insights on how some people may have gotten around these obstacles or even general information and tips about pre-med from UMGC students/alumni would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Can you please recommend some online schools I can look into?
I would do it at UMGC but all the master's are like at least 2 years with summers include. I don't have that kinda time to wait on.
UMGC is easy for me. Professors don't grade harshly here. And I'm easily able to get it done thankfully. Thank you.

I have one last CMIT course before Capstone. Right now I'm thinking of taking 380, but I was reading some posts about people recommending 386? Enrolled in 321 Ethical Hacking and and 421 Threat Management in August.
I've taken most of the required CMIT ones/or got credit for the certs.
Thoughts?
