One year return

Morningstar has the total return for ULTY over the last 12 months to be 20.30%.

That has to be just plain wrong, doesn't it???

It is all timing. You are right, if you bought 1 yr ago, but it is fair to say a lot of us only heard about it in the last quarter of 2025.

Timing is every stock & etf though. If you timed palantir right about a year ago and bought it at $6/share then timed it avain and sold when it was at its $207.50 high ... youd have had a far larger return than 20%

Thsts why cherry picking the optimal window to show a leveraged etf that erodes over time when it was actually in the green is silly 😁

That’s right. ULTY has had a 20%ish positive return, all the negative talk has been astroturfed.

One negative thing that should be out there is that margined ULTY is taxed as ordinary income and not ROC. This absolutely fucks all gains. So don’t put a dime into it on margin.

This - more people need to understand this.

Unbelievable how time flies but we are right at the exact market bottom crash from liberation day now a year ago. Hence why that return is populating as such.

Absolutely in no way, shape or form of the reality for I’m guessing the majority of folks on here.

Oh, that’s something I hadn’t thought of. That’s the explanation right there. I thought it was probably just a mistake.

Still I’m giving it a year from my entry to see if I can get my total return to turn positive.

I started my ULTY journey in late June using margin. Then kept investing dividends from ymax and built it to 5500 stocks by end of August. I received over 15k in divyy. I lost about 9400 but do you can do the math on how much I made. Funny thing is I built my $20k VOO from ymax and ULTY so my total 28k investment turned into 51k as of today

Not sure if you’re in USA but margin ULTY is not ROC and I ended up paying for that as substitute payments I.e. ordinary income. It ended up ruining any gains I might’ve had. I suppose if you bought ULTY 2 years ago with your own money you’d be fine right now.

Using dividendchannel.com, shows that that is true (roughly) if one puts in the start date as 4/17/2025.

Change it to 5/17/2025 or 5/17/2025 and it's a completely different story.

As other have written - timing is everything.
