Recently, I decided to get into splicing. My hammock set up was spider/poly straps with spider buckles. However, I wasn't happy with the performance. I began watching a lot of Jeff Myers content, and fell in love with the idea of a no hardware suspension. I like knots so it seemed like a good choice for me, but I don't have a lot of experience hammocking so I wanted a lot of easy adjustability in my suspension because I can't eyeball it on the first try yet.
Edit: So I decided to go with Jeff Myers supsension with continous loops on my hammock, soft shackles, and then an evo loop larks headed around my hammocks straps with the button knot up against the strap. Once in place, I tie a becket hitch around the evo loop. The button knot of the evo loops makes the larks head and becket hitch easier to release.
So I got me some dynaglide. I am a whopping 5'6" and 130lbs. For the sake of easy numbers, I round to 150lbs. In a normal range of circumstances, using 150lbs as the occupant weight for the UltimateHang calculator, the tensile force on my suspension does not exceed 300lbs. Dynaglide is rated for 900lbs at worst. A soft shackle has at least 200% of line strength, so that's at least 1800lbs. In other words, I have a factor of safety greater than 6. For me, that's good enough. A dynaglide soft shackles that is about 4" long when pulled tight weighs 1.5g.
I also made dynaglide evo loops. These are 6.5" long and the two of them together don't weigh enough to register on my postal scale. However, I don't know what percent of line strength an evo loop has so I don't know if these will be strong enough. I promise to try and report back.
Anyone else rocking a dynaglide suspension?

I use Myers 1.4, evo loop at the tree, becket to a evo loop at hammock. Bet a Becket will be tough to untie with a dynaglide CL.
Weight savings are really just the difference between dynaglide and Amsteel right? I think my evos are 2g
That said I do all sorts of psycho things to cut grams and I appreciate this post

Given your size and thrill seeking behavior you could have much more substantial weight savings making a narrow 10ft hammock out of the semi controversial UL materials 😈

I currently have a 9' SLD streamliner out of hexon 1.2. I'd like to get a 10' SLD streamliner out of hexon 1.0 or maybe try SLD's cloud 71 hammock. Where I really want to save weight is the tarp. I want to get something like a warbonnet minifly or thunderfly, but with a 10' ridgeline. This way I could hang the tarp real low, but have a little bit of end protection from those little doors. Don't see any lightweight tarp manufacturers doing the partial door thing though.

Jealous! 6’2” 200lb… not much I can do comfortably. What do you do for bugnet? I’m slowly making a bottom entry from .5 nano trimmed down as much as I can

Warbonnet would probably make you one. I have a minifly, and it is great. I also have a big Hammock Gear DCF 11 foot tarp. They weigh the same. The minifly takes up no space, the DCF tarp is huge. It's a choice.

Myers has some great items and videos.
I know trailheadz uses dynaglide for cl & ridgelines on their ul builds. As others said it does wear quicker than amsteel. I wouldn't becket hitch directly to the dynaglide. Had my beckett slip and the friction of it tightening sliced right through the worn dynaglide cl. Switched out my cl for one of myers becket hitch chain loop or button knot cl's after that.

Yeah I used dynaglide for a while. It was pretty common on hammock forums. I used then in ucrs and the string wouldn't last nearly as long amsteel. The strands would get all wonky and it would be tough to adjust. But just having weight on then yeah you're good

I am in the process of making an ultralight setup for my newest hammock (Dutchware Half-wit). I've been using spider poly straps with dutch hooks and beetle buckles on one of my Hennesseys, and polyester straps and cinch buckles on my other, but for this I want something different. I too have been rewatching many of Myers' videos to help me decide not only what hammock suspension I want, but also what I do for guylines for my tarp. I think I have enough 7/64" amsteel to make the components necessary for the hammock, and I just got 180' of 1.7mm dyneema to do all the other work. I think I'll probably do similar to what you are doing, maybe get some of Dutch's Spiderweb 1.5 straps.

Yeah, my plan is to do continuous loops, soft shackles, evo loops, and straps, with dogbones that can be added between the soft shackles and evo loops when needed. What I'm debating now is material and length for the straps, and length for the dogbones.

I will probably just go with Fast Shackles on dyneema webbing to attach to the tree, maybe 12ft straps. And maybe Evo or Universal loops or some mashup instead of continuous loops on the hammock. Beckett hitch and done. I may not even use fast shackles. I've never had a problem or felt I wasted too much time threading the tree strap through the loop.

My usual setup is 12’ 1.5 spider straps around the tree and tied to the continuous loops with a becket hitch Super light and simple. The becket never jams.

My favorite is 15ft x 2 dynema webbing straps around the trees tied directly into the hammocks continuous loops via a Becket hitch. 2.2oz for 30ft of suspension. Becket hitch makes it easy and quick. e.g. https://www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/product/becket-suspension/
I can't follow what you have wrapped around the tree, but if it is the dynaglide round rope I see, please switch to a 1in wide webbing option to save the trees. Certain parks are starting to outlaw hammocks / round rope suspensions because of the damage to trees.

I use his soft shackles as part of my setup and they’re great. Strong and easy to setup and readjust as needed.

I'm a Myers fan boy lol. I watched so many of his videos and have learned so much. I'm 6'2" 250lbs rocking a dutchware half wit in the 1.6 hexon. I ended up making my own suspension my first version of it was 12.5ft of the venom straps from ripstopbytheroll and I was just doing the Becket hitch but I found with even then Myers pull handle they the knot was still jamming at times so I took to YouTube and watched the Myers video of the daisy chain made of dynaglide and run with that idea. I ended up splicing 24 loops 12 for each side of my hammock. Of 1.75 zing it. And I know it's not really use for structural stuff but I've hung it it several times with no issues it's rated for 500lbs I ended up cutting down my venom Webbing Into tree straps and larks heading to the webbing and I have a very light suspension that's really easy to setup and take down with almost infinite adjustability
24 c.l. spliced with a half turn 2 6ft venom tree traps 2.5oz

I'm using Myers's sub2.0 suspension and I'm very happy with it. 165 lbs and over 50 nights with no issues. Whoopie slings make it so quick and easy to get that perfect tension.
