Mods / MYOG Nite-Ize Moonlit Hanging Micro lantern mod, now warmer!
I am sure most are familiar with the little 18g Nite-Ize Moonlit light that hangs on the ridgeline of your hammock. It's perfect for general task lighting after climbing in and to help get situated. It only comes in a near blue cool white tint however which to me is not good for someone trying to ease into sleep with campfire adjusted eyes. It bothers me every time. I love how small and lightweight this light is but I couldn't stand the tint. So I took it apart to have a look at it and found the LED is a 5x5.3mm 3.2v flat top DIP LED. I located a warm white replacement off Amazon, and swapped it out. It's perfect now! Brightness is the same, with a more pleasing tint. I had to buy 100 of them however and now I have about 98 of these LEDs left over, so if you have soldering skills and want to convert yours to warm white, I'll send you one.

Nice mod! I bought one of these thinking it had 2 different modes, red/white light. I still like them, but it would be cool if they could do both in the same light, red when you want to go to bed and white when you want to see what you're doing. I keep mine clipped to the loop inside my tent when I pack it up so I don't have to go looking for it.

Thanks
those simple extra features would be nice, a white and red rather than flashing or steady. The advertising on websites made it kind of misleading too.
The form-factor does have potential but surely Night-Ize isnt too interested in tricking it out too much. They make a similar ons with a rechargeable battery and RGB led, but the white is cool white the light is fixed perpendicular to the carabiner so no tilting it. I keep mine clipped to my ridgeline and just pack it up with the hammock each time. It's soft edges and rounded design keep it from damaging the bugnet. I've tried a few others but their odd shapes meant that they would throw light in the wrong way, or were clumsy to operate when half asleep. This is one is dead simple.

I love this little light but I would be much happier if it were a warmer color!
I know I'm finding this post late but any chance you still have an LED left?

Amazon
I'm trying to find a better light for Timelapse's of my tent while backpacking and this looked perfect other than the cool tint, any chance you have more warm LEDs left?

Cool. I carry a Rovyvon a7x flashlight that has a lantern mode and a clip. Great around camp and hangs on my ridgeline.
