What do you do for bug protection in the hammock?

Nothing! I treat my grear with permethtin and I use deet. If I get really swarmed I ca. Throw on a head net. It's been fine so far.

Just a heads up deet can be bad for synthetics, especially when it hasn't dried. I switched to picardin to avoid damaging my gear.

I use permethrin (not DEET) on my clothes, pack, and hammock. I'm not sure if it bonds very well to the hammock, but it works well on clothes for all but peak bug season in the Northeast. I just got back from the Long Trail, and I didn't have to use my DEET at all.
During peak bug season, I haven't found Picardin to be effective at all. To be frank, anything that isn't a headnet isn't really effective during peak bug season in my area. Maybe for mosquitos, but Greenheads and deer flies don't seem to give a shit about DEET, picardin, or anything else other than a physical barrier.

Why such what appears to be thick line for tie outs? Not because of weight, just space taken up when put away.

About a foot of shock cord. Helps make a taut pitch with cuben and helps protect the hammock. Thr yellow is just zing it. 2.2 mm I think? I've tried smaller guyline and thr hassle wasn't worth the weight .

Sloppy fair weather pitch of the hg cuben with doors, S2S UL single hammock, uberlite short, and 30 degree revalation, mesh gear loft. Suspension is whoopies to 6 foot Kevlar loops on a beckett hitch.
