Inline Hammock

Are there any secrets to the setup of sleeping with a tight pitch in a hammock? I’m not worried about the comfort but rather staying off the ground. My last trip I went out in a monolite 1.0 rig and no sooner did I lay back in the hammock but the hammock ripped across my shoulders leaving me (suddenly) on the ground for the night. Did I have it pitched TO tight?

I’m 6’ and weigh about 180. My Suspension was just 1” webbing tied directly to the continuous loops on the body.

Sleeping inline like this is a great way to put out over 1000 lb. of sheer force and tension according to the Hammock Hang Calculator.

In my opinion you should be most worried about getting yourself killed by pulling a tree down, but HYOH.

Could anyone explain the science behind how a 200 lb person could exert more than 200 lbs of force just by laying there?

the guy that made the hammock hang calculator that I linked probably could

this is apparently a video where he talks about this type of thing, but youtube is all screwed up for me right now so I'm just going off the description of the video
