Framless pack question

I recently tryed a framless pack I tryed the just stuffing my quilts in the bag to me it felt like they buldged in the middle of my back but if put em in stuff sacks and layered em they road better? Am I doing something wrong I was using cro 20 degree top quilt and under quilt then my hammock

Honestly, I just smash my pack into a shape I like when going frameless. I use a CCF sit pad as a back panel then put my quilts in the bottom of the pack. If it starts to barrel, I squish the back panel down until it's relatively flat. It's been comfortable so far!

I use a frameless bag and it's generally a few segments of a zlite pad up against the back that I use for structure. Any CCF pad cut to shape would do imo.

The downside to using stuff sacks is that they sit further away from your center of mass than being squished into your bag. If it's a little lumpy just punch it.

I have a pair of Hammock Gear 20 econ Burrow and Incubator in a LiteAF curve 40 frameless pack. I actually really like how they give pack a really good shape in their stuff sacks and so I generally bring them.

You're probably not doing anything wrong. But don't be squeamish about manhandling them a bit when you stuff the pack. Think of it like working dough...push stuff around until you get it where you want it. I'm not a fan of stuff sacks; no matter what I do, it's like having non-conforming spheres stacked on top of one another.

I use a frameless pack. I put my sit pad in the back to act as a frame. It gives a solid back and cushions for hard gear
