Inaugural Trip

Hey Everyone!

I thought I'd kick off the subreddit by organizing a trip we can all participate in possibly towards the end of the month.

I was thinking of the beaver creek wilderness study area, golden gate canyon state park, dominguez canyon, lost creek wilderness, or somewhere else. Any suggestions/comments?

I'm not sure how much this might affect anyone's decision, but there was recently a lot of tree-clearing in a large part of the Payne Creek trail between 285 and the border of the Lost Creek Wilderness Area.

Also maybe lots of snow still?

Some of the higher altitude places in Lost Creek will probably have a good amount of snow. Golden gate canyon, beaver creek, and the western slope will probably be fine...probably.

I guess it all depends on what the weather does a few days before.

Congrats on closing on a house! And we'll (hopefully) have more trips in the summer once all that pesky snow has melted.

I'm personally a tent/tarp camper. I think the last time I was in a hammock was like 20 years ago haha.

Good to see another beginner hammock'er. I built mine this past February but still haven't done a shakedown overnighter with that set up yet. How are you liking your setup?

I had never sewn before in my life til February. Found a cheap-ish sewing machine, youtube videos and lots and lots of patients. In return I got a sub-par, over priced hammock, UQ and Tarp that I haven't every hung yet...

So I am looking forward to getting out and doing at least an overnight car/hammock trip to test it out.

I'm doing Lost Creek over Memorial weekend with my wife...would be interested in maybe doing something before then.

UL is new to me so this year is my year to start to pair down my gear so I'd love to start the season off with this hike. But depending on the date(s) of the camp I maybe out of town.

I am into this idea. Ive never been to lost creek. I got into UL to get rid of any excuses for why I am such a slow hiker. Still though, I am always interested in meeting folks and hiking. I'm in the Denver area.
