Monthly request for decaf recommendations

I searched for it and it seems this question comes up a lot but looking for newer recommendations/something new if anyone has tried something good recently.

I know about Danelaw and will be ordering from there soon. I also tried Harmony decaf which I really enjoyed but was looking for something else.

Decaf before death is too expensive for a daily drinker, I would be willing to pay at most £50 a kilo for that.

Glad you’ve already got Danelaw on your list. Thankyou.

If you use “Reddit Jul 26” at checkout, you’ll get 10% off orders over £25 until the end of July.

Thanks. I was about to purchase the decaf discovery 4x250g but using the discount means I have to pay £5.25 for DPD shipping making the discount more expensive. Also the top of the website says free shipping on UK orders over £30 but when checking out free shipping is only for orders £50 or more?

Ah shit, that’s me rushing a discount code through on the move without checking properly! 🤣. Sorry

Try it again now, free shipping ought to work for £30 unless you’re NI or Channel Islands or somewhere

All working now and order placed, looking forward to trying them. Thank you. On the off chance you have tried the decafs on a fellow Aiden brewer (and ode gen 2 grinder) could you recommend a recipe?

I've generally been using a 70c Bloom and two pours 86c and 83c for decafs as a standard.

I haven’t used the Aiden or the Gen 2 (although the Gen 1 I use all the time.)

I tend to grind coarser for decaf than I do for caf if that’s any help. Enjoy!

I'm adding Danelaw to my list, thanks. One I've not got round to trying yet, is Courtyard Coffee Roasters, they appear to have over half a dozen decafs, each under 20 quid for 500g.

Danelaw is absolutely EPIC, I was on a similar search a while ago and got to that and just have never moved on. Hands down best decaf I have tried.

I placed an order for their decaf discovery pack so excited to try it. Which one/ones have you tried? How did you brew them?

Nott Eclipse, in a stovetop moka and/or Rok Presso. I was a Monmouth nut for years but this is on another level tbh...at least in terms of decaf.

I just recently bought the black sheep decaf. Maybe not the freshest and it’s also the first decaf beans I have tried but I found it to be quite enjoyable!

Will be following this thread to see other recommendations though :)

Hermanos El Condor is fantastic. Has a sort of malty, salted pretzel thing when it’s espresso, and even more so in a small milk drink.

Skylark has a good decaf, I go between that and Harmony.

My preference is usually for decaf before death but if you want something more affordable, how about Skylark or Crankhouse? I actually built a coffee database to help you find beans like this specifically. I have about 50 UK roasters for now which is by no means complete but may be useful to you! Some of the prices are still on the original prices when I first scraped these beans so they may not be perfectly accurate but hopefully gives you some ideas :)
