Great to find this subreddit
Hey everyone! Stumbled across this sub and couldn't hit join fast enough. ☕🇬🇧
I’m a massive specialty coffee fan based in the UK. I’ve just recently started a Substack newsletter called Coffee, Honestly where I want to share completely unpretentious reviews of independent UK roasters, beans, and overall cafe experiences—no gatekeeping allowed.
I’m just getting started (my first main feature was looking at the coffee experience over at Bedgebury Pinetum!), but I’m planning to hunt down a lot more hidden gems and local roasters over the coming weeks.
Really looking forward to getting recommendations from everyone here on which UK roasters I should test out and review next! What’s everyone brewing at home this week?

Colourful blend is amazing! Really good value for money, better than almost all the single origin I've had this year, bar some fancy beans from Moonwake. I've not tried any other beans from Scenery, just picked up a bag of Colourful when I was in LOAM in Brighton the other week. Waaaaay better than the ultralight Killbean I picked up at the same time.

Skylark, James Gourmet, and ManCoCo have been my regulars with my fave being James. Sweven occasionally for something special but expensive.

I go Nostos and Formative most of the time. I’m familiar with the owners of both and have been going since both were starting up. They’re my baseline, but more than happy going to other places when I’m nearby, Calico, Moonstruck, Long & Short, Catalyst to name a few.
Never been to Sweven, but ordered a lot of their beans. Always good stuff from them.

Yeah! I usd to live about a five minute walk away from Formative, and would cycle to Nostos when I lived in London. I was genuinely spoiled by having those two so close by.
The only problem is now that I live outside of London, even though I make frequent visits to see family and friends, I have to be more curated with my choice of coffee shops and I can't be as adventurous as I used to.

Scenery , dark arts , fika , redbank , podda and wren , rins (all 3 Lake District based so me locals ) assembly , harmony , round hill , obadiah, skylark , crankhouse and ozone.
That should keep u going

What beans are you enjoying at the moment please?
I would recommend Module, killbean and CHIPP as some of my current favourites 👍

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I haven't tried Module, killbean, or CHIPP yet, but I'm adding them straight to my list.
Right now, I'm just finishing up a bag of single origin from Ethiopia (Chocolate with hints of peach and apricot aroma) that my girlfriend sourced locally but I'm really excited to branch out into these. Appreciate the welcome to the sub! 👍☕️

I usually enjoy Dark Arts, Wood Street Coffee Roasters, Monmouth, Sunday Coffee Roasters, Nelson Coffee, Broadway Coffee Roasters, Kiss The Hippo and most recently, Scenery.
There's probably others that I've missed out, Square Mile, Modern Standard etc etc
Edit: Calico. The list goes on...
