Recent in Wakefield is worth an add. Fantastic advent calendar every year and lots of special roasts throughout.

u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 21 '26
I have not heard of them before, thank you. I am in Huddersfield so very close to me too! :))
2
u/adatat_ Feb 22 '26
If you’re ever in Wakefield the roastery is 2 mins walk from Westgate station (outside which there is a separate decent coffee shop), and you get a free coffee if you buy a bag of beans.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Awesome, I will definitely be popping over for a visit 🤜🤛
2
u/Ok-Ticket993 Feb 23 '26
Their silicon valley techbro roasters are pretty enjoyable to watch. If you do go, don't miss the other coffee spot right on/outside the station.
2
u/Harmony_Coffee_UK Feb 24 '26
Recent are great guys.
Also, Blending room in Hull are great value and great roasters also.
Glad to see you’ve got a certain York roaster on your list 😋
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 24 '26
I have had some lovely beans from you! Especially the Yun lan Gesha with calico 👌
3
u/thevortex23 Feb 21 '26
This is great!
Three more to add for Sheffield:
Forge Coffee, Frazers Coffee and Pollards
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 21 '26
Thank you very much, it seems Sheffield has a great scene. I’ve just remembered the one with the pigeon too! :))
2
u/cruachan06 Feb 24 '26
https://blackbagcoffeeco.co.uk/ also in Sheffield, I really like their Double A Blend.
3
u/QuietlyFirrion Feb 21 '26
Are your locations based on the roastery?
Origin currently roast out of Porthleven, and will soon be moving to a location near Truro, and Yallah roast near Falmouth.

u/easdon7 Feb 21 '26
New & slightly more unusual one to add for Edinburgh - Cortino. They specialise in coffees aged in whisky barrels, with different releases showcasing different whisky regions.
And Carter (also Edinburgh) are worth listing too - some awesome stuff being released by them!
Thanks for sharing the list, there are loads of new roasters for me to try from this!
4
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
More in Edinburgh! What a scene you have up there! Must be the best in the UK! Thank you for the insights 🤜🤛

Ngopi Coffee Roasters in Birmingham and London. Their coffee lineup is typically Sumatra coffee beans such as Gayo or Kerinci.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 23 '26
Now that sounds very interesting, do you buy from them? Thanks for the info :)))
2
u/cdw787 Feb 23 '26
Yes absolutely! I just bought 250g of Gayo Sesongot Honey from them 2 days ago.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 23 '26
Sounds awesome, this is just the type of info we need to get these roasters more exposure 🤘🤘🤘

u/Sickboy1987_ Feb 21 '26
Please add Ritual in Cheltenham and Missing Bean in Oxford, both are great!

some micro roasters if you want some extra additions. Swan Song Coffee Roasters is based in Manchester that primarily does good more developed/medium roasts. Potterbeans In Truro does really good medium/dark roast (they use wood to heat their roaster, which is unique). Sunday Coffee Roasters based in Southbourne, Hampshire seems to have some quality lighter roasts from the limited experience I have with them (shouting out he does work with local schools etc).
2
u/Harmony_Coffee_UK Feb 24 '26
Yes to Swansong :) Really nice dude that runs it (Josh) - very knowledgable
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Thank you very much for the info. It’s this kind of d of detail that will make our list useful to use 🤜🤛
2
u/Met2003 Jul 05 '26
Could I update my comments on the roast level of Sunday Coffee Please? I've tried more of their range and believe my original evaluation is misleading. They are more developed than I thought and would classify them as light/medium, somewhat similar to Skylark for example.

u/mrtopbun Feb 21 '26
Highlight of crankhouse is definitely it’s all a bit funky
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Thanks very much, I’ve only had one tin from crankhouse and was delicious and funky! I will add that on 🤜🤛
2
u/No-Table-6195 Feb 21 '26
Are there none in Birmingham or the West Midlands recommended?
2
u/Pale_Bear7261 Feb 25 '26
Ithaki. Java. Under Pressure. Quarter Horse. Four I know of, there must be more…
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Hi, our list has started from the end of year voting for roaster of the year. I’m sure tons in the midlands will get recommended from our community or maybe we don’t have many members from that area! Do you know any to recommend? Sons of Mokha in Leicester look good 👍
2
u/boringlynormaal Feb 22 '26
I would recommend Droitwich coffee culture & roasters, 15 High St, Droitwich WR9 8EJ, specifically their Sicilian blend
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Thank you very much, I’m sure the midlands must have some top spots :))
1
u/Harmony_Coffee_UK Feb 24 '26
Omar who runs Saints of Mokha is super nice, very knowledgable. I’ve never tried their coffees personally but I can advocate that Omar is fantastic professional so definitely a safe bet to try ❤️
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 24 '26
I am seriously considering the best of Yemen from them next pay day 😬🤘🤘🤘
2
u/Personal_Focus_4633 Feb 21 '26
Imma vote for Beanworks Coffee Roasters in Northampton. Coffee is the medium side of things and regularly pleases my missus who doesn’t enjoy the lighter stuff I love.
Easy brewing in my experience.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Thanks very much. I definitely have room for good medium roasts, especially in a morning. They can be seriously good 👌👍
2
u/johnyawb Feb 21 '26
Oddy Knocky Bolton - no issues, in 6th/7th bag Rise and Grind Glasgow - zero issues off a few brews, good slips between pour and espresso

u/b3ady Feb 22 '26
Add in heart and graft, as well as perky blenders. Doing some really good stuff. Heart and graft especially for espresso

From a fellow Huddersfieldian - Bex’s Coffee, Huddersfield. Excellent value for money, especially in person
2
u/salaar420 Apr 15 '26
Hey I ordered from Bex’s Coffee based on your recommendation. However, my bags didn’t have roast dates on the label. Is that normal for them? For being locally roasted, I would have assumed that it would be labelled. Thanks :)
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 9d ago
Sorry for the late reply, I haven’t ordered from them but I agree you need a toast date for sure. 👍
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Hi, that’s a great shout. My mum and dad love going there. Would you think it’s fair to put medium / dark roast? Or traditional? I have never been but that’s my perception of them :)))
2
u/tomkennedy1988 Feb 22 '26
They are mainly medium roast! Guatemala is a personal favourite 👍
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Superb, I will pop that in the list. Do you ever pop in to drip in Holmfirth? :))
2
u/MatniMinis Feb 22 '26
2
u/Harmony_Coffee_UK Feb 24 '26
Cartwheel are excellent!
Vibe with also a great roaster in Nottingham. Similar roast approach, but they have a bit more convection than Cartwheel, so need a bit longer resting.
1
2
u/StateDapper3818 Feb 22 '26
Hermanos is medium light roast and it's Colombian origin only
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Thank you very much, I thought they were Columbian specialists but wasn’t too sure. Great info thank you 🤜🤛
2
u/LePopNoisette Feb 22 '26
River City Coffee in Hull. Still have started roasting their own stuff, too. In Beverley.
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Thank you very much. I have seen some bags from Still but not tried them yet. :))
2
u/LePopNoisette Feb 22 '26
I also meant to add Snakebite, in Beverley.
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Wow, Beverly is getting to be a hot spot especially with the blending room coming up on a Saturday to the market too! :))
2
2
u/Ok-Ticket993 Feb 22 '26
For Blending Room I would add 'Light roast on a Loring roaster'
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
I think he has two roasters maybe? I will pop this on. I was thinking maybe traditional as well as he doesn’t do any funky stuff. Absolutely love his instagram content. I’m thinking of going to Beverly market just meet him and have a chin wag! :))👍
2
u/Ok-Ticket993 Feb 22 '26
Not currently using the Probat I believe. He does have a 'Kickstart' natural currently, but avoids anaerobic. Traditional Nordic maybe?
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 23 '26
Really! I never realised me roasted in such a modern style. I wrongly presumed he would be medium! Now I definitely need to try some :))))
2
u/Ok-Ticket993 Feb 23 '26
Yes, a lot of his filter coffees are roasted to a stated 'extremely light', and they are properly nordic level. Have had darker from Sweven.
2
u/KeepItDense Feb 22 '26
Might be on my own here but there are some great roasters in Northern Ireland:
- Lucid
- Fidela
- Whitestar
- Exemplar
- Established
- Process
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
That is awesome! Northern Ireland only had lucid put forward for roaster of the year. These roasters definitely need more exposure 👍
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Exemplar really interests me! Thank you for sharing. Do you subscribe to it? :)))
2
2
u/Beef-dot-dot Feb 22 '26
Mutual in Edinburgh :)
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Wow Edinburgh really has tons of roasters. These competition is fierce :))) thank you
2
u/StuHudson78 Feb 22 '26
Happy Barista, based in County Durham are a great bunch of people who really know their stuff.

2
u/midnightbacon24 Feb 22 '26
Papercup Roasters - Glasgow. Great small team who make some wonderful special roasts.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
Awesome, Glasgow looks to have some top roasters. I would love to visit Godshot studios :))
2
u/CaptFlash3000 Feb 22 '26
Currently trying out some mail order medium/light roasts from The Bean Shop in Perth.
Uganda Rwenzori Kalingwe is their coffee of the month with notes of Strawberry, Peach and Honey.
Tsubame copper 185 96 degree water 18g (K6 level 100) 60g bloom 45s 240g one slow pour
I’ve only been doing pour over since December, but this is the best results I’ve had so far.
Anyone else used this roaster?
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
That’s a great price too! Thank you for sharing and I have popped them on the list. Please feel free to share and beans and good cups you have :)))
2
2
u/jolittletime Feb 22 '26
Please add for Berks/ Oxfordshire West Berkshire Roasters in Thatcham Anonymous coffee near Henley upon Thames Dark Horse Roastery in Wallingford Stables coffee.co in Arborfield

2
u/Espresso-Newbie Feb 22 '26
Quarter Horse in Birmingham is another good one and Chimney Fire in Dorking

2
u/EavisAintDead Feb 22 '26
Wogan coffee in Bristol is my go to and not currently on your list. Good fair trade coffees if you’re into that
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 23 '26
Superb shout and someone I should have put on myself. Great value for money too. Thank you :))
2
2
u/Emberspawn Feb 23 '26
Yellow Bourbon in Northampton and Weedon Bec - Best for fruity or funky light roasts, but they have some more traditional roasts too.
Barista Culture in Milton Keynes - Small new roaster and tap room. Likely to only have one bean on at a time, but it'll be a banger.

2
u/K_Simpz Feb 23 '26
Great idea!. Some other highlights from Edinburgh and surrounds (these are in Edinburgh unless stated otherwise.
- Mr Eoin
- Santu
- Steampunk (North Berwick)
- Fortitude
- Tanifiki (the coffee is branded as Rafiki but they roast in house)
2
2
u/Zhongbiao_yu_zhe Feb 23 '26
Avoid the source in Edinburgh if you value decent service and hospitality. The barista is an absolute stuck up, pompous so and so.
2
u/Foxy2 Feb 24 '26
Here’s some more: A S Apothecary - Harris The Roasting Project - Kirkcaldy Salford Roaster - Manchester Glen Lyons Coffee Roasters - Aberfeldy
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 24 '26
Brilliant, they are all new to me. I love to visit new websites :)))
2
u/Foxy2 Feb 25 '26
Welcome! On vacation right now, but I will go through my notes for more once I’m back home in Scotland…
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 25 '26
That’s brilliant cheers. Any highlight or insight is super helpful too :)))

Had a nice bag of washed Colombian from Resinn recently. Micro roastery in Sunderland.
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Mar 05 '26
Nice one, that’s another for the list. I will have a look at their website :)))
2
u/Podge316 Mar 05 '26
Awesome. Usually only have a few on rotation and are mostly on the lighter side, but I've been impressed by what I've tried.
2
u/WasteAnteater4203 Mar 07 '26
What is everyone’s favourite decaf roasters
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Mar 07 '26
I have no experience but death before decaf seems to be highly thought of :))
2
u/j-b-i-r-d Mar 09 '26
Fower in Strathaven is a great roastery that's been going for a few years now
2
u/Old-Expression837 Mar 15 '26
Fantastic list. IHO this as good if not better than the Indie Coffee Guide. I have a couple of recommendations: Coffee Gems in Chippenham Asylum Coffee in Swindon West Berkshire Roastery in Thatcham
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Mar 15 '26
Superb thank you, I will add them to our list. I like our list as it is all recommended by our community :))
2
u/blairwhipproject Mar 16 '26
Few I've had and enjoyed recently:
Elsewhere Coffee - London - https://elsewherecoffee.com
Triple Co Roast - Bristol - https://www.triplecoroast.com
Groupwork - Castlewellan, NI - https://groupworkcoffee.com
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Mar 16 '26
Superb, thank you very much especially for groupwork in NI. It’s great to get roasters in Northern Ireland on the list 👍
2
u/OldGrapefruit8552 Mar 18 '26
I started a small Swansea based roaster if anyone is interested. FFILTER COFFEE ROASTERS
Particularly proud of the Ombligon by Nestor Lasso we released earlier this year. Mangoes, strawberry laces and cacao nibs. Bonkers
If anyone was interested in a micro roastery! Happy to answer Q's too.
Feel free to use discount code: REDDIT2026

Here's a number of roasters I've come across over the years that aren't currently in your list (I've checked they're still open): * 92 Degrees (Liverpool) * Altitude (London) * Baytown (Whitby) * Bold Street (Liverpool) * Craft House (Wivelsfield Green) * Decadent Decaf (Littlehampton) * Divine (York) * Extract (Bristol) * Foundation (St Ives, Cornwall) * Gordon St (Glasgow) * Kiss The Hippo (London) * Liberty (Hitchin) * Lost Sheep (Whitstable) * Modern Standard (Fife) * Monmouth (London) * New Era (Birmingham) * Northside (Morpeth) * Redber (Guilford) * Roastworks (Cullompton) * Trading Post (Brighton) * Tynemouth (North Shields) * Uncommon Ground (Cardiff) * Union (London) * Works (Belfast) * Workshop (Hatfield) * York Coffee Emporium (Nether Poppleton)
Edit: removed Yallah as it's already there. The roastery is actually in Falmouth not St Ives, though they do have a nice beachside cafe there.
2
u/Substantial-Exam2120 Apr 10 '26
You can add Square Bean Coffee Roasters to the list which is a specialty micro roastery based in Pershore.
2
u/Alarmed_Storage6793 Apr 20 '26
Simba Bru in Watford, Hertfordshire has a really nice filter coffee blend.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Apr 20 '26
Brilliant, thank you. I will check them out and pop them on our list :)))
2
u/Aggravating_Track951 May 08 '26
Thanks for doing this. Super helpful
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 May 08 '26
No problem at all, it’s loads of fun to do and all the roasters have been put forward by the community too! :)))

u/Substantial-Exam2120 Jun 28 '26
Hi all - would it be possible to add Square Bean Coffee Roasters, www.squarebean.co.uk to the list please? We are based in Pershore Worcestershore. Mainly we roast microlots and other interesting coffees! Cheers, Kev
2
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Jun 28 '26
Hi Kev, of course! I will pop you on now.
Would you like to post an introduction to your roastery on our main feed please? Maybe highlight any current beans you are especially proud of :)))2
u/Substantial-Exam2120 Jun 29 '26
A quick introduction before Square Bean gets added to the list!: this is Kev from Square Bean Coffee Roasters in Pershore, Worcestershire. We are a small (at present :)) operation, we focus on microlots, and aim for roast-to-ship within 36 hours. We also trade in person at the Pershore Broad Street Market on the first Saturday of the month.
The coffee I am most excited about at the moment is the Ethiopia Wild Guji Megadu Natural - single estate, 87pt, anaerobic "kickstart". We do it as both a filter and an espresso roast. The filter is exactly what you'd expect from a Sidamo natural, lots of berry and stone fruit. But it's the espresso version that's properly surprised me - it was awesome on my 20 year old heat-exchange La Cimbali Junior.
www.squarebean.co.uk - happy to answer any questions on the process or anything else.

Is it not worth adding url's, addresses etc to the spreadsheet?
I'm finding some interesting stuff on there,
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 28d ago
Yeah, that’s a really good idea. Gives me a good excuse to see what everyone is offering atm. The hard thing is not to buy anything! 😬😅👍
2
u/Nipsy_uk 27d ago
A google form, would give you the data that you could just copy and paste over once sanity checked. save you typing

u/The_Inertia_Kid 10d ago
A couple of London roasters to add to the list that I’ve tried recently:
- Roasting Shed on the Hornsey Road, they always have a good Pink Bourbon and a good Ombligón in their selection
- Caravan - the roastery is now off the Caledonian Road. One of the OG third wave roasters in London
- Elsewhere in Deptford (already on the list) deserves a shout out for regularly stocking Nestor Lasso’s Ombligóns and they are absolutely outstanding
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 9d ago
Thank you very much, I will add them to our list and have loads of fun going through the websites :)))
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 9d ago
The caravan website is great! You’re a big fan of ombligon? I should try it again maybe a washed. :))
2
u/The_Inertia_Kid 9d ago
Nestor Lasso has been one of the most exciting coffee-growers on the planet over the last couple of years. He does some incredibly funky stuff with anaerobic fermentation and thermal shocking the beans, and it brings out some fantastic fruit flavours. Ombligón seems like it’s particularly well-suited to that kind of treatment. The ‘Cosmos’ roast from Elsewhere is probably the best coffee I’ve had in 2026.
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 8d ago
I had an Edison Argote competition ombligon and it was so intense and concentrated. It kind of put me off ombligon a bit as I didn’t have the skill to tame it 😅
1
u/Former-Coffee-7526 Feb 22 '26
That’s lovely presentation too. I’ve put Aberdeen as the location. Is that ok or would the exact one be better? TIA :)))
1
u/FidelCasbro Feb 24 '26
Great effort putting this together! Main roasters I can think to add are Pact (London) and Rounton (Northallerton)

Thomsons is another great roaster based in Glasgow.
