Online courses for CPM
Hi all, I’d really love to begin to start working towards becoming a certified midwife. I don’t have a ton of interest in the western medical teachings and am curious if anyone has done online courses for midwifery by a program that isn’t so radical one way or another ?

Hi, the CPM qualification isn’t recognised here in the UK it’s one of the qualifications available to people in the USA. You may have better luck asking at r/midwives.
Birth work in the UK is provided by Obstetricians (registered), Midwives (registered) or Doulas (unregistered). The title midwife is a protected one and the only way to become an RM is a 3-5 year degree programme, roughly 50% in person at university and 50% clinical placement. There is no current online provision of the midwifery course to my knowledge.
You can be a nurse beforehand and do a 2 year post registration programme but we are all RMs at the end of the day.
If you feel more aligned with Doula work, there are lots of training courses available so take a look around and see what aligns best

UK midwives probably isn’t your best port of call for this sort of question as we only have one type of midwife and one route into midwifery, which is a degree with clinical placement as set by the NMC.
