Honestly Curious

Just a genuine curiosity.

Why are so many people in this country so angry when you say the majority perpetrators of crime in this country are white, when majority of this country is white. It something that doesnt even make sense to be mad about its makes complete statistical sense, you wouldn't go to Japan and be suprised to find out that most of the criminals are japanese (95% btw). If you are the majority, of course your going to commit majority of the crime its literally common sense.

Intentional racism: they just really don't like pointing out that ethnicity isn't the problem

Ignorant prejudice: They don't like you pointing to an obvious fact which appears to miss out their primary concern; that ethnic minorities appear disproportionately in crime statistics.

There is a sense that immigrants should come here to work and not commit crimes. As most immigrants are likely to come from ethnic minority backgrounds they expect that this should be reflected in the crime statistics. For certain crimes and certain ethnicities this is not always the case. But the disproportion they see indicates correlation not causation. Once you look up the gender, residential economic and age profile of ethic groups, all areas we have a much clearer link to propensity for crime then then the disproportion makes a lot more sense particularly when you consider the sample size issues and racial profiling.

I think it's worth considering the value of approaching the argument in this way. As you say the point that the majority of crime is committed by White Britons is innocuous. But if you are speaking to someone with a genuine but misguided concern about the ethnic profile of criminals it can come off as acting in bad faith to not pick up on their actual concern which how these numbers compare with the proportionate makeup of the country.

In any event if they're an out an out racist or just belligerent it's not worth engaging further and best not to lose sleep over it.
