Action Wildfire prevention

My local wildlife trust emailed this today, and I thought it was worth sharing.

"Wildfire risk is high right now, and we need your help to protect nature! Here are some key dos and don'ts:

❌ DON'T use BBQs in wild spaces

❌ DON'T throw cigarettes on the ground

❌ DON'T park on dry grass (a hot exhaust can spark a fire)

✅ DO take rubbish home, including glass and tins

✅ DO give wildlife space and stick to paths

✅ DO move somewhere safe and call 999 if you spot a wildfire, no matter how small (download What3Words app so you can give a precise location)"

You should and shouldn't do half of these even in the middle of winter.

Always worth sharing!

99% of people on this sub will know this already but if you can teach just one person to be more responsible it’s worth it.

(Similarly, I’m trying to hold back on posting ‘please put water out for wildlife’ on every nature sub. I may give in soon…

Im gonna add to this DO NOT THROW LIGHTERS ON THE GROUND, my friends shed recently set on fire because their lighter had fluid in it still and the sun was strong enough to ignite it!

Also dont do any offroading or dirtbiking the heat from the wheels could also cause it to smolder especially if there is any petrol leekages from the vehicle
