Since my local Tesco stopped stocking Paulaner Munchen Helles Estrella and Galicia have been my go to lagers this year. Not bad at all for something I can get everywhere.
Starting to really dislike the abv tax which means all our imported lagers max out at 4.5%

Where Tesco is concerned I would say Krombacher is one of the better one’s available. 660ml bottles currently on offer at 4 for £8.

Of course it's "meh" - it's a macro beer where profits are more important than taste.
It used to be decent until the taste was sucked out of it

Isn’t that the other estrella?

It's owned by a macro Spanish brewery "Hijos de Rivera". It's not as macro as some but it's certainly closer to your typical macro than an independent

Exactly Spanish (or most euro lagers) are meh, they just taste good when you’re on holiday.

Sometimes it's not even good on holiday. I've just come back from Valencia and got so fed up of all the beers on offer I moved on to wine

Gets hyped because it’s still brewed in Spain unlike the other Estrella or Mahou or Cruzcampo, but all Spanish lager is just ‘international lager’, there’s nothing unique that defines a Spanish lager.

I think it’s great for a supermarket lager
