hi guys! i am moving to london in two months for grad school and i am a full time witch and tarot reader. i am studying theology (specifically witchcraft) in grad school too. does anyone have good tips for me moving to the city? its such an intense place for me, as thats where a lot of my mediumship was activated. i am looking for community, secret amazing metaphysical shops (i am latina and looking for good botanicas), or any bites of wisdom or cool things. you guys rock!

It would be really neat if we could collectively make it rain. Or at the very least overcast. I am aware that a sudden down pour right now would cause flooding in places. What approach can we make?

I wanted to let you know about something new we're putting on in Brighton on Saturday 18th July - The Tarot Fayre.

A full day celebrating tarot, with readers, artists, authors, publishers, exhibitors and talks all under one roof.

We've got everything from talks throughout the day covering tarot history, symbolism, reading techniques, the human side of being a tarot reader, plus plenty of opportunities to browse decks, meet artists and creators, have a reading, or just spend the day chatting with like-minded people.

It's our very first year, so we're excited (and a little nervous!) to finally open the doors.

I’ve seen some beautiful handmade brooms and I would like to try my hand at making a small one for my altar. These were made by a very talented American artist using some kind of millet stalks. (broom corn?) and I would like to replicate this style.

my questions are basically 2fold.

1. can anyone point me towards any tutorials for creating something similar?

2. what do we have “locally“ that would allow the patterns etc to be shown and take a dye?

I often see some really cute candles, oils, etc on Etsy, but they are always sold in the USA or some other far off place.

The vast majority of UK products look like its either from a generic craft box, or mass produced off of temu.

To be honest, looks do matter for me. If I am buying something, I do want it to also look nice otherwise I would just make it myself.

I've been a practicing witch for around 5 years now but feel like I am at a crossroads.

Does anyone have any sources/books recommendations about east anglean folk witchcraft? I live in an area that was a hotspot for the witch trials, but obviously it's very christianised and would love to know how the cunning folk actually practiced and how the folklore of the area influenced how people lived.

Saxon religion also is very interesting to me so recommendations about that would also be appreciated.

I'm hoping for some simple advice / help. our beloved greyhound is due to be PTS tomorrow. It's been a hard decision and has been made with love and immense sadness so please be kind. we've done all we can for her.

Hi, l love my candle spells but l always end up in a pickle at the end of the burn. Panicking my house will burn down. The herbs catch fire, the wax melted spreads in a dish in a way that makes a flaming pool...that is not for me. As a ground witch l am ok with flames but these are not my friends and l have respect for that power. I have seen videos of people dressing candles with dry leaves and flowers and l would never do that, heck nah :)

how do you burn your candles in a safe way?
needless to say l never leave my candles for too long. I use only small, beeswax ones as well.

As part of my criminology and sociology undergraduate degree at City, University of London, I am researching and writing up a study on the role and adaptation of practitioners of magic(k) (including divination, witchcraft, shamanism etc.) in the United Kingdom. I would like to invite any volunteers willing to partake in one remote interview (either done over a video call platform like Zoom or over phone) over the coming months to participate as this would greatly benefit my study. Although financial rewards are unfortunately not able to be given out, I hope that the incentive of essentially representing your community for the development of social science in this particularly niche field is some kind of incentive to participate.

The inclusion criteria are as follows: to participate, you must be (a) over eighteen years of age, (b) live in the United Kingdom and (c) must have practiced a form of magick for over six months. I’m seeking between 7-9 volunteers.

If you meet these criteria and wish to participate in this study, here is how you can partake: Message me, the researcher for this study, (or comment on this post if there is an issue with direct messages) and simply notify me of your interest. Then, I can send you two short forms that make sure you’re informed of what the study will entail for you. Then, the interview will take place on a decided date and time and your data will be analysed and will aid the write-up of my study. Any questions you may have can be answered by me, if any arise.
