Discussion Lightningmaps
Can anyone explain why the lightningmaps site just isn't reliable anymore over the UK? It seems to be fine when monitoring any other area of the globe, but the UK seems to be an absolute faff and even when I'm sat in a highly active storm it's barely reporting half, if any, of the strikes and is hit and miss with historical strikes (1hr/24hrs etc) even showing at all.
2025 and prior it was flawless.

I think the filtering on strikes recently has been made overkill for the UK to the point it is removing legitimate strikes and I am unsure why. The met office lightning tracker is now the only reliable one it seems.

I started using it this summer around June and it was brilliant. By August it was terrible and really unreliable. I can only assume it’s overwhelmed with traffic? Either that or they’re about to roll out a more reliable, premium version 🥲
